Marijuana dilettantes who got their fill of THC on Tuesday can feel free to sit this one out; Personal OG, the latest leak off Freddie GibbsStr8 Killa No Filla mixtape, is for the serious weed addicts only. Pairing dreamy synth ambiance with a subdued percussion rhythm, Block Beattaz keep it minimal on the production tip, leaving the focus squarely on the Gary, Indiana representative’s rhymes, and for good reason – few emcees can rhapsodize about burning the herb with as much eloquence (and in such an impressive variety of rapid-fire flows) as Freddie Gibbs. Even if you don’t happen to smoke 12 blunts a day, you can’t deny this Midwesterner’s impeccable-as-ever mic skills. Gibbs’ highly-anticipated mixtape is scheduled to hit the ‘net sometime next month. In the meantime, those who haven’t already should be sure to check out Gangsta’s recent, Booth-exclusive interview with DJ Z.

We just don't have very many artists like Freddie these days. Embrace what this man is bringing to the table - regardless of whether or not you liked smoked out raps - and be one of the many who will be able to say that they were on-board before it all really began...

If Skee co-signed Gibbs dude definitely gots talent and it showed. Gotta say the hook was just average and it might have been a little more appropriate to have had this featured yesterday but I digress... 3.5

I agree with Z on this one; there's not many artists out there with this kind of talent. There's a lot of unsigned talent premiered on the Booth but very few stand next to Gibbs on terms of pure talent. This is a real solid track in all corners.

4.5 out of 5

That flow from Gibbs is sick, he's definately one of the more talented new comers. The production is nice, am I the only one that thinks it sounds a little like Ice Box by Omarion (the drum pattern does anyway).

Seems like everyone's dropping a spacey beat this week. Got a fast flow on this which always works with me. The hook could be a bit better but besides that this song is tight. I admire Freddie's talent on this. Good to see rappers with this kinda talent nowadays. Most rappers seem to lose breath after a few lyrics. He goes in.

The production has a real trance feel to it, almost like drops of water in a puddle. That sort of ripple effect on the best is sick. Props to Block Beattaz for the boardwork.

And Freddie does a great job doing over the beat. Strong lyrics and a solid flow throughout the entire thing. Regardless of the song is a about, you have to throw props his way for the work he puts in here. Definitely a song that will work well with those who enjoy the green. Has a real laid back and psychedelic vibe too it. Nothing but good things to say about what Freddie Gibbs lays down on "Personal OG."

Freddie kills this spaced out production. The way he switches up the flow and rides the beat is dope. This is some cool cruising or smoking music.

The production could almost be labeled hypnotizing, and is minimalist, so listeners can really appreciate the skillz Freddie Gibbs has. Regardless of one's opinion on the lyrics, the flow is mesmerizing.

Interesting.

i love the flow he used on this track its kinda laid back but firm at the sae time the chorus is.. well IDK its ok but not impressive. i like the change up into the speed spittin lyrics freddie gibs throws down and then the slow down of the chorus. so will it be a hit in the clubs hell yess

4 spins im reluctant too hand out but this is pretty chill so what the hell its banger

The best part of this track was it's production hands down, but the dude's flow was good too. I know people have already said and it's pretty obvious if you listen to this, but he has talent.

Freddie's flow always impresses, and it's no different with this one. Questionable topic (haha) but still enjoyable. 3.5 rounding up.

Freddie Gibbs might just be one of the most versatile rappers out right now - he can go from thugged out to stoned out without a problem. This track is one of my favorites so far this year. Putting this on the decks right now.

The thing is drugs are legal in my country so we smoke them a lot. Now what Freddie tries to do is create a rap that goes along well with smokin the good stuff.

However he fails by creating a way to fast rap and a hook that makes you feel sick instead of relaxed... from a smoking perspective total garbage.

What can I say Gibbs killed this track. The production on this was something "unique." Don't know how to describe it, but take my word for it, it is HOT!

Freddie has never really impressed me before, but I must say, he carried a good flow with this production. He kept going on n on and that is really something I like to see. A rapper keeping a fast pace and really blending in with the production. I must admit, the tags (DJ Skee) in this song were kind of annoying, but I'm not gonna hold that against Gibbs cause he was fantastic on this track.

Im gonna agree with everyone else and rate this a banger because that is what it truly deserves.

As soon as you hear the beat you know this is smoking music. Then he comes with the reference to Pimp C lyrics in his first bar. I mean if you couldn't tell this is a "get high to" song then obviously you haven't heard enough of Freddie. He reminds me a lot of Devin The Dude mixed with Z-Ro...you would almost think Freddie was from Houston. His lyrics are even reminiscent of what a lot of Houston rappers would talk about. Even if his lyrics aren't the most creative...his delivery is what sets this track apart. He's able to rap fast and then slow it down on the hook to create a track that is so mellow yet I could see myself listening to on a night where I just want to relax and chill out.

Will he ever blow up out of blogs? I'm leaning towards..I love what he does tho.

He rides the beat very well here and his lyrics are cool

The rhyming is sooo natural. He rides the smooth beat with ease while displaying a clear knack for strong lyricism dedicated to his addiction.

Oh, and a good catch by @Aussie_Pride. The whole arrangement, right down to synth washes on hook sounds 'inspired' by Ice Box.

@Casanoki - I'm sorry, but (respectfully) whether or not drugs are legal in your country has nothing to do with Gibbs and his ability as a rapper. You're talking apples and oranges.

Nothing much to say here as others have already said the beautiful delivery. It's like he's not even rapping... it's so natural it sounds like he is literally talking...

The only issue I have is the chorus, and that is a minor complaint. It does have that getting sucked into the depths of the ocean after you've hit the surface from jumping. A slow, trippy, psychedelic jump. As DJ Brookllen mentioned lol.

Sit back, chill, and let this man take you on a flowetric journey.

Freddie, Freddie, Freddie. You're one subtle cat.

Entertaining rhymes, watertight flow, and a relaxed confidence characterize the lyrics. @Mr. Top Hat, I agree. Natural is a great word to describe the flow.

Great, spacy production. Richard and my fellow Boothomites have already said what needs to be said, and I agree again.

The sing-songy chorus near the end was a bit annoying, but that's nitpicking.

@Sons of Ireland, I don't know what flowetric actually means, but it sounds appropriate.

Don't miss this one.
