Fred Knuxx - School of Hard Knuxx
Artist: Fred Knuxx
Producer: X-Plosive
Album: School of the Hard Knuxx EP
Label: Unsigned
Fred Knuxx may have had to learn how to deal with life’s slings and arrows the hard way, but you don’t have to. Simply take a listen to newly-released street single and EP title track School of the Hard Knuxx and learn from a master. This slow-rolling cut, backed by the organ/piano-loop boardwork of X-Plosive (who grabs a vocal sample from Hova‘s Hard Knock Life for the hook), finds the rapper who brought us Booth-exclusive freestyle Microphone spitting his condensed life story, chronicling the struggles that made him the man he is today as well as offering his perspective on such topics as tattoos (he doesn’t have any) and drugs (he doesn’t partake). On the back end, he sums it up better than I ever could: “All in all, I wouldn’t trade my experience / It made me stronger and wiser / Neighbors thought I wouldn’t amount to nothing / Well, I’m glad I surprised ya… Stack up the cash, add up the math, School of the Hard Knuxx, flying colors I passed.” For more of the Delaware native’s hard-won insights, grab a copy of School of Hard Knuxx (the EP) when it drops – you guessed it – April 20.

Knuxx has a very laze fair flow here - which is both cool and slightly dull at the same time. I prefer Knuxx taking charge of a track with his vocal energy, but here is seems as though he let the production (BPMs) dictate the speed of his flow and his overall rhyme style. Rotation, but looking forward to what is next.

The flow here is sooooo sloooooow, and he sounds very bored here. I've never liked the chipmunk vocals or the complete opposite, the overly deep voice over featured here.

How long do you think he's been waiting to use the title of this song?
Anyway, while I would have liked to have heard a little more energy on the verses (if you're bored than you're boring), I've got no real complaints. My head was definitely nodding. |

For me its not his flow or lyrics, actually its the weak hook and beat. The production although knocking is a bit too dull, farther the song goes the more boring beat gets, and then hook doesn’t really appeal to me.
