The 112th entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Fly Gypsy, the D.C. rapper-producer duo first featured on reader-acclaimed mixtape track Wildflower. On the brand new, previously-unreleased Nu Dope freestyle, emcee Komplex flows over beatsmith Alexei‘s boardwork from Fly Gypsy’s current single, 2 Step. Fly Gypsy are currently preparing for the December 1 release of their latest studio album, Change for a Dollar, and will be heading out on tour starting in January. Watch for new single You to drop later this month, along with a video shot in Jamaica and directed by Ras Kassa. Fans can also check out Fly Gypsy’s recently-released Vodka & Rum mixtape, out now and available for free download at flygypsy.com.

Loved the production from their new single, so it goes without saying that it sounds just as good under Kom's flow on this DJBooth freestyle. Two talented artists on the come-up showing off their stuff... love it!

mui sexy!!! and the boys look good too!!! these guys are hot... I love it. Oh my god it brings me back to the days when i'd play one CD for like a month staright and memorize all the lyrics!!! Boys!! you need to make it to Amsterdam stat!

Damn! This MC/producer duo must really LOVE this instrumental. It might come off as I'm hating on it but no I'm not, seriously. That "Vodka & Rum" mixtape is GOOD music.
Once again Komplex demonstrates a nice flow, weaving his words around the beat with some expertise. 3.5 |

Would of liked to see them use a new beat, but this new verse is better. Really liked the vodka and rum mixtape, showing love to some original dudes. Keep up the good work.

Damn, if I'm not mistaken this is one of the highest rated freestyles in DJBooth history, and I can see why. Just some quality music, and I'm still laughing about the fake echo in the beginning. Vol. 3 of "In the Booth" is going to be pistachios with tracks like this on it.

This joint is a heater on chill! No ad-libs or doubles just lyrics and flow cipher style. word to the cipher...word to the 90's. They got that sound up in there too word to lyrics! Dude said: Y'all rhyme like you hate hip hop" good shit for a clothes/close line. Fly Gypsy? Word to cool names.

The track is great...I absolutely love it! this is good music...music i can listen to without worrying about every other word being fowl and I can play it at a family reunion w/o the kids and the aunt/uncles/grandparents leaving the room in discuss...Keep up the good music!!

man this is good, but hasnt this exact beat been used somewhere else? Maybe its just the same sample. Either way its fire. I listened to Wildflower and I am feeling Fly Gypsy's whole vibe.

Well put together. The old heads gonna love the sample and the slow flow. Plus its real danceable and got some good lines. Gota a nice vibe to it and the intro and break down at the end are real kool too. well put together. this needs to be on the radio or everyone who loves hip hop's ipod/mp3 player

This sounds like the makings of a hip hop classic...I'm seriously loving the producer-emcee combo! If you like this, you'll love them live. Fly Gyspy has it all, great sound, tight lyrics & they look good too. I'm a fan! Can't wait to get the entire album.
