Yesterday, Nappy Boy girl group Sophia Fresh stepped into the Booth with This Instant, a track set for inclusion on the Step Up 3-D soundtrack. If that exuberant cut was the musical equivalent of downing a dozen Pixy Stix, then I’m going to have to come up with an even crazier analogy to describe Flo Rida‘s contribution… how about an extra-large ice cream sundae topped with pure adrenaline? Basically, Club Can’t Handle Me gives new meaning to the word “upbeat.” Backed by the pulse-pounding percussion, sugary synths and subtle strings of of Sexy B*tch producer David Guetta, the Panhandle State hitmaker spits two verses’ worth of characteristically low-concept, high-energy rhymes, promising: “I’m gonna celebrate, ‘cause that’s all I know.” A scorcher like this one needs a catchy hook, and Flo delivers, teaming up with an unidentified female background singer on the eminently sing-alongable chorus. If this record’s party-ready vibe has you hooked, you’ll be able to find plenty more bubblegum-pop gems on the SU3D soundtrack LP when it hits stores on June 20.

I hope our readers are not mad that Flo Rida and Sean Kingston, both of whom like to buy up real estate on the dance floor, decided to drop club-centric singles that warranted features on the same day. Right, readers? Haha.
Ever hear a parent, teacher, or seemingly random elder on television say "it is what it is"? As a youth that explanation means sh*t, but as you get older you realize how true it really can be. What does this have to do with Flo Rida's newest Booth feature, you ask? Well, that saying perfectly describes his musical methodology here. Take it or leave it, I guess.

The man keeps coming with the hits (when will he stop?). Thats all really Flo Rida is good for though, no offense to him. I could definitely see this climbing high on the charts like every other flo rida single.

Hot! Flo Rida is not in the same category as most rappers, but I give props when props are due. And here, Flo Rida has managed to come with a completely new sound that will still appeal to his same exact audience. Get ready for this one, people. Straight hit.

One listen down and I already know that this is gonna blow up. Flo Rida, IMO, is the king of mainstream pop music. "Sugar" is still one of my favorite guilty pleasures as far as really poppy songs go, and this wasn't too bad.
The techno/club ready beat will definitely encourage people to step onto the dance floor and the verses weren't nearly as bad as thought they were gonna be when I pressed play. Hook is catchy as shit. Pretty much expected when the name Flo Rida appears. All together, it's in rotation for me. |

It will be interesting to see if Flo-Rida can bounce back after a couple of failed singles...Theres no doubt in my mind that this track will solve that problem. A) it sounds just like I Got A Feelin, one of the biggest track of last decade, B) The beat might just be better than I Got A Feelin. C) Flo-Rida has the club on lock and this melody just sounds like winner!
Personally, I see myself getting sick of this after hearing this everywhere I go....it also loses points for lack of originality (a recurring theme in songs these days). But it should be enough to get Flo-Rida a release date...3.5 stars |

This is exactly what I was expecting when I saw the names Flo Rida & David Guetta, a decent club track with a very bouncy beat (which reminds me a lot of 'I Gotta Feeling'). This should do some serious damage in the clubs.

The industry is really messed up, they changed Flo-Rida into a POP Machine. How come rappers are always so refreshing and raw with they first come out and then the execs in the industry take over their lives and control THEIR music...sad smh

No one does hip-pop better than Flo-Rida, and I'm sure that once again this one will hit. If he ever did a track with will.i.am it'd sell approximately 11 billion ringtones (and when he does I want a cut for the idea). You know I now how to give this three stars and move on.

I used to think Flo Rida was nothing special and looked like an egg-headed fool in an oversized body; the black humpty-dumpty. BUT -- He's grown on me. This song is too Miley Cyrus for him though. Sorry, not so cute.

Flo-rida is incredibly good at what he does. Alot of new artists don't quite know their identity, and that sometimes confuses the listener when they put out music thats all over the place. Flo-rida knows exactly who he is musically, and he's not afraid to say it. He bangs out a solid record that is "crazy bubble gum", but it could be a huge hit. He knows what he's here to do, and he does it... And well I might add.
Does that female vocalist sort of sound like Brandy? Just wondering, I know there an unofficial item right now. 4 Stars. I am B=mc2. Flo's high-octane, lyrically-lacking rhymes fit perfectly in this club setting. Expect it to shoot straight up after it's just charted at 60! Should hit dance-club/dance-airplay soon too. |
