Anyone remember Disney live-action classic The Rocketeer? It was a little before my time, but I distinctly recall renting it and spending a week or so of my childhood completely obsessed. As pumped as I was to hear Kev Nish, DJ Virman, Prohgress and J-Splif of the Far East Movement rap about zooming around in rocket packs and battling Nazis on the new, Bruno Mars co-written single Rocketeer, my disappointment when I learned that it had absolutely nothing to do with the film was short-lived – how can I hold it against them when the song is so damn catchy? Backed by the soaring, piano-laced electro-pop boardwork of The Stereotypes, the 2 Is Better Than 1 crew extend their hand to a special lady, asking her to accompany them on the ride of her life. OneRepublic‘s Ryan Tedder sets the cherry on top of this upbeat musical confection, showing off his falsetto in a smooth guest chorus. So, Booth readers, is this one destined to, well, rocket to the top of the charts? Those digging it can hear more on the FEM’s Free Wired LP, released Oct. 12, and available now in stores and online.

Wow. This joint is incredible. I must say that I've been sleeping on "Far East Movement". Their obviously introduction to me was "Like a G6", which I initially thought was Ke$ha, and some cookie-cutter, throwaway dance/pop song. Just like most of the radio songs nowadays, the method of the machine drove me to like the song; and then I came to find out it was in fact this group "Far East Movement", that I still know little about, but will definitely be looking more into them. This record shows that they just might be here for a little while; and not just for a season like I initially thought.
Bruno Mars is simply a beast right now. He's my favorite new singer/songwriter this year. Then on top of all that, Ryan Tedder on the hook? Yeah, this is a hit all the way. I expect it to top the Billboard 100 Charts in no time... |

Heard this at the Mike Posner show in Chicago HOB when they opened and it was the first time they had performed it. At first I thought it was Bruno on the hook, but when I heard this a couple weeks ago without loud screaming teenage girls I was simply amazed. What a follow up single, this record is a problem that will take over Billboard and radio this winter.

First off, co-sign Richard on the intro. The Rocketeer is my ish, I fell in love with Jennifer Connelly on that flick.
Anyway, anything The Smeezingtons touches turns to gold, and the Far East Movement definitely make the most of a great opportunity. I can't say I was personally loving this, but if it becomes a hit, everyone involved will more than deserve it.

GREAT song!!! Beat and chorus is off the chain. Two thumbs up for Far east movement. I would have liked to have heard their voices without autotune on it, but at least it wasn't to much. Great track. Oh yea, Bruno Mars+anyone=great track

Average, but solid track. Need to get rid of the auto-tune, and work on their inconsistent flows (i do find the last verse to be *catchy* however). The hook makes the song (mainly Ryan Tedder), but the lyrics of the actual verse's are kinda weak..but catchy. As far as all dude asian hiphop groups go i still prefer the Teriyaki Boyz. So for now i'll give them a solid 3 stars.
