Fat Joe - Pride N Joy
Artist: Fat Joe
Featuring: Kanye West , Miguel , Jadakiss , Roscoe Dash
Producer: Bink!
Album: None (Promo Single)
Label: R4 So Valid, LLC/Terror Squad
Fat Joe‘s address book must be heftier than… sh*t, I forgot that I can’t fall back on the easy joke anymore, after the stunning success of the rapper’s 2011 fitness regimen. Let’s just say that the Bronx vet’s got a lot a of big-name industry connects—and on new Hype Williams-directed video single Pride N Joy, he calls in favors from not one, not two, but six of his highest-profile homies. With the success of the steamy Another Round fresh in his memory, Joey Crack once again ventures into ladies’ jam territory, enlisting beatsmith Bink! to craft a slow-burning, piano-laced backdrop for his high-rolling reflections on the cost of love, as well as those of guest spitters Jadakiss, Mos Def, Roscoe Dash, Kanye West and Busta Rhymes. When you’ve got this many heavyweight emcees on one smoothed-out jam, you need a top-tier hookman to round out the package; R&B hitmaker and longtime DJBooth fave Miguel rises to the occasion, taking center stage in the lead-up to the ensemble chorus, as well as delivering silky backing vocals throughout the cut. Feeling this luxurious, Rico Love co-written selection? While Pride N Joy isn’t slated to appear on the project, fans can keep it locked for the latest on Fat Joe’s yet unscheduled/untitled 11th studio album.

Is there a new, unwritten rule that if you feature more than 4 artists on your song you need to ask DJ Khaled permission and then put him on the record also? Must be.

Fat Joe may just be the worst one on the track. Nice production by Bink! and smooth chorus work. Everyone else pretty much held it down.

Not a fan of this one. It just seems messy. I really don't understand all the features....I could only hear Kanye and Roscoe and they were used sparingly...wtf did DJ Khaled do?! It's not even that good of a song to warrant all the features...pass

Much More Kanye & Much Less Fat Joe on the track and I probably would of given this 4 stars... Hook & production are solid

Ok well annoying intro reminiscent of Allof the Lights flashing up the screen with sad, sombre moments - then ruined by rap kicking into the twinkle-toe beat with Miguel getting hooked in.
I don't like this, it's too etchy for my liking the production don't meet with the rap lines but subtly fits Miguel's vocals. This is a miss for me, if it weren't the hook. |
