Fashawn - Sunday Morning (k-os Remix)
Artist: Fashawn
Producer: k-os
Album: Higher Learning Mixtape
Label: One Records
If you wake up on a Sunday morning (hangover optional) with a smile on your face, it’s highly likely that you thoroughly enjoyed your Saturday evening (or maybe it was the early morning hours, wink wink). This might inspire you to treat every night like its Saturday, but if it doesn’t, you could always settle on remixing an underground classic; this is exactly what West Coast native Fashawn, whose One Shot One Kill mixtape was recently featured in the Booth, has done to Toronto emcee k-os’s ’07 single, Sunday Morning. Set to be featured on his forthcoming Higher Learning mixtape, Sunday Morning (whose original version peaked at #19 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100) is the first of three records to be previewed in the time leading up to the December 24 drop via NahRight and OnSmash.

The beat has a good uptempo vibe and the lyrics are pretty good. This is pretty good. Banger!

Ummmm...no thanks. I didn't like the beat at all and the rapping was kinda weird. All in all, i thought this song was garbage- I didn't like anything about it- annoying would be the word.

Booth-heads, I propose a toast! To us sensible reviewers; leading by example, we have helped WOW:) evolve from a brash young commenter into a wise, experienced reviewer (which her above comment shows, though I disagree with it)! Salute! (watches members clang glasses, then makes toast)
OK, now to the song: Beat is eclectic (can you say that? Sure, I knew you could). So is the rapping. Might not be WOW:)'s taste (although it's mine), but at least she's professional about her opinion now. Can we agree to disagree about this? |

Ya know what? I really liked this track. This is so far different from what we normally hear on the booth and I'm def. feelin it. This one is a banger for me.

I definitely agree that it's eclectic. I also support Toronto hip hop. This will have to grow on me more I guess. For now I'll throw it in rotation.

I loved the original song by K-Os. I've listened to it a thousand times, it's so energetic! I don't see the point on this, lyrics and rapper change, ok, but the production remains almost the same. I'll look for the lyrics to understand what's changed!

Fawshawn has obvious talent and a somewhat introspective lyrical approach, but his flow does not fit with the track. The track itself is very reminiscent of an Outkast/Organized Noize lick - jungle style beat and strong emotional content. Overall, this remix sounds forced and unnatural, especially compared to the flawless eclectic delivery that K-os puts down on the original. I wouldn't call this garbage, but it's barely OK.
