Much like the ever-popular “Why?,” the question “So What?” has the power of derailing any conversation into a pointless, potentially infinite series of queries (and, if you press the issue for too long, to cause whoever you’re talking to storm off in disgust). Since y’all presumably clicked the link to get here, though, I’m going to save myself the trouble of explaining the significance of the fact that Far East Movement have dropped a new single, and get straight to the good stuff. Inspired by—and featuring samples from—Beastie Boys classic So What’cha Want, this cut finds the crew mixing the ‘92 cut’s old-school style with cutting-edge club vibes. Over The Stereotypes’ clattering percussion and sizzling synth blurts, Kev NishDJ Virman, Prohgress and J-Splif attack the beat in characteristically hard-partying style, telling us exactly how they like to have a good time. (Prohgress hilariously fantasizes about “[taking] Donald out for lunch,” and “...Ivana out for brunch.”). The end result is eminently danceable, not to mention catchy as all get-out. “So What?” So those who haven’t already should pick up a copy of last year’s Free Wired LP, as well as peeping this cut’s recently-debuted official video.

So bad and lyrically poor I almost think it's a joke... but sadly, I don't think it is.

The fact the Beastie brothers OKed this record should say something by itself. Did Far East try to out do the Brooklyn boys? No, of course not. But, they did attempt to make the classic record relevant almost 20 years later in a club-ready musical environment and in that respect my ears tell me they succeeded. It moves, the tempo is respectable in relationship to the original, and their past works should tell you that their rhymes are not going to be lyrical masterpieces. Rotation for me.

Track is pretty weak. Im not a fan of the artist who have one hit and expect everyone to love them every song after that. I like FEM but they still need to earn respect in the pop industry.

The track is banging. Beat is incessantly catchy, the Beastie Boys flip is a nice homage, and the boys deliver their trademark party lyricism. That's the lane they excel in. It's definitely going to get some rotation. Nice work, FM.

Not really my type of jam. The lyrics are not creative and it seems like forced fun.

Heard this song ages ago when their album came out. Still bump it from time to time, which means this song has already shown its classic potential.

All I want is bass.
This is the perfect fun dance track, with a respectful nod to the classics. The breakdown is killer. I predict a summer banger

This can go down well as long as you play it loud enough so that the bass masks the terrible lyrics and hook... lol

One thing I think needs to be made clear..
Far East Movement HAS mad a lot of other tracks besides Like a G6 and this one!! I.e. Their song in the movie Tokyo Drift - Round & Round, and others such as Fetish, Millionaire, and Girls On The Dance Floor. These were all WAY before G6 and personally, I think some are better. Plus after G6 They had a track featured right here!! anyone remember Rocketeer? Ya that was FM.
Case in point being: They HAVE earned respect in the Pop industry, they HAVE other songs besides Like A G6, and they're great at making catchy, fresh music for the masses.

It's hard to not judge this harshly when I love the original. It's still a favorite of mine. That being said, this is probably the worst FEM song I've heard to date...
