Far East Movement - If I Was You (OMG)
Artist: Far East Movement
Producer: The Stereotypes
Album: Free Wired
Label: Cherrytree/Interscope
Far East Movement’s new single If I Was You (OMG) is standard fare for the L.A. based group, a lyrically light, party anthem that relies mostly on The Stereotypes’ pulsating house-influenced beat to get stilettos on the floor. Even as hardcore hip-hop heads, we can’t hold this against them. After all, they know their lane, and they stick to it. However, we can no longer deny the fact that their guest star, Snoop Dogg has become a complete enigma. The same LBC OG who recently proclaimed I Don’t Need No B**ch and is known for slanging gang affiliated rhymes over the coldest of Dre instrumentals, now seems to hit the disco on every other track. After being in the game for almost 20 years, he’s earned the right to do whatever he wants, I’m just not sure the masses are ready to accept his new found love for glow sticks. Either way, a catchy record is a catchy record, so do the Far East crew have another hit on their hands? While this is an updated version of the album offering, Far East Movement’s party-starting Free Wired is available now.

@Sunbear - Because hip hop doesn't have boundaries and we don't discriminate against music styles within the genre.
With the track record of FEM, you cannot hate on this record. I can picture it being played across the radio and in clubs across the country within a few months time. Wait for it... |

This is corny. Sadly it will get radio play. Did snoop even try on here? I mean its bad enough that he's with far east movement in the first place but c'mon now....
And a silver dollar reference? really? |

@ Z, I love your site. My biggest fear is that you are probably right, this will be playin everywhere soon. But c'mon, Snoop is better than this. Remember when you 1st heard DoggyStyle... See my comparison between Snoop and Raekwon - I don't think we will see a Rae/David Guetta track anytime soon?

This is such a hot track for the clubs for sure. It's not their most adventurous of their songs, but it gets the job done. I bet it will get some radio play because of the semi catchy beat and the Snoop Dogg feature (which I don't really think was needed), but I doubt it'll be anything like Like A G6 or Rocketeer.

I don't get why people want rappers to sound the same and rap about the same thing, if that was the case I would be bored of rap. Snoop has been on Tracks that have been terrible. FEM isn' trying to be serious or hardcore. It's a fun song. Get use to it.
