As TV ratings climb to a new peak (again) for this year’s American Idol fans across the country are eager to see which young hopeful comes out on top this season. With that in mind, I can’t help but wonder if the release of Idol alumnus Fantasia Barrino’s latest single, Even Angels, at the opening of Idol fever is a coincidence. One listen to the track, though, and any speculation takes a backseat to Fantasia’s absolutely beautiful blend of confidence and control as her assertive vocals overlay a wonderfully energetic, piano-laced melody and synth-heavy chorus courtesy of production team The Stereotypes. The track’s driving force, though, comes in the form of its inspiring and cleverly-crafted lyrics that bleed emotion while maintaining clarity: “Every day I’m stronger, I can’t get better if it don’t hurt.” Angels will be featured on Barrino’s currently untitled album, set to drop sometime later this year. In the meantime, fans can catch Fantasia’s performance of Angels on the Oprah show February 3.

This song fits her perfectly. Some singers try to do too much, Fantasia doesn't do that here (thankfully). No over-singing, yay!

Agree with Z on this one. She didn't try to do too much at all, and that's what made it a really good song. Fantasia brings her own unique style to this instrumental and makes the song her own. The hook on here was really tight.

Never been much of a fan of Fantasia but this is nice. Stereotypes' production sounded great and I loved the piano through out the song. Especially towards the end when it closes the song off, really nice right there. Fantasia was great as well on here and sounds sincere when she sings like she believes in every word shes saying.

This is a cool R&B mixtape joint. I know the Fantasia fanbase is going to go bananas over this one. (I'm So glad I'm not with my ex anymore a.k.a Fantasia's #1 fan).

Just a really solid, quality R&B track from one of the most unique voices in the business, and definitely a smart choice to add the synths on the chorus, that will get it some serious radio play. Not necessarily a personal favorite, but I can dig it.

Season 3 was the first season that I watched "American Idol" and I knew from the moment Fantasia auditioned that she would win it all (No, seriously, I really did). I had big hopes for her and her first album was great. Her second album was okay, but I didn't like the approach she had taken. She apparently had some downfalls and what not, but I'm glad to see she's making a positive return to the industry. This record has the formula for success and I hope to hear a lot more great music from her in 2010.

Both beat and lyrics are done nicely! It’s a performance of control subtlety and plenty of emotion, offering encouragement but with the kind of beat that will allow her to hit the airwaves hard.

Even Angels is an awesome song. It's like Fantasia was there when I cried myself to sleep and slept with my exhusbands shirt because I missed him but knew he was not good for me. It was like she was right there and knew everything I was feeling! WOW!

This is not Fantasia. I don't give a damn... this song is some Rhinna cast off BS stop now no more coping of current hot sounds for "great" artist which is what Fantasia is.. if your reading Ms. Barrino this song is a bore. get on top of your game your the best!
