Faith Evans - Way You Move
Artist: Faith Evans
Featuring: Snoop Dogg
Producer: Chucky Thompson
Album: Something About Faith
Label: Prolific/E1 Music
The incomparable Faith Evans is back with her fine self. In an age when most R&B has become diluted into the same sensual, poppy garble, Faith has thankfully seemed immune to such artistic dwindling. As smooth and sultry as ever, the acclaimed singer delivers a very promising performance on new single The Way You Move. On The WayFaith glides over a cooled out Chucky Thompson instrumental that sounds like it was designed for Musiq Soulchild’s earlier albums. For her point, Evan’s crisp vocals reminds listeners why she has lasted this long in the music industry: a great voice with the range of a veteran. As if that wasn’t enough, the song also smartly features Snoop Dogg (further emphasizing the beat’s laid back ‘90s feel) who gives a brief, well-paced but ultimately unneeded verse because quite simply, Faith got this. After a thorough speaker testing of this track (headphones, car speakers, and computer speakers) this is sure to be one the best vibe tracks of the summer. Therefore, it’s a must that you cop her new album Something About Faith when it drops September 4.

Who could have predicted 14 years ago that Biggie's ex-wife and 2pac's west coast homie would ever do a song together? For starters, me.
Aside from their regionally opposite paths (or former label affiliations), their collaboration here in 2010 is a tad bit sleepy (it sounds like Snoop is nearly comatose). The perky production by Thompson is enjoyable, as is Faith's voice, but in the end I'm just not overly impressed. |

After all these years Faith's voice is still incredible. Her sung hook and verses were fantastic, and seeing Snoop on the track, I must admit, really didn't make that a big of an impact on me. Snoop did an overall good job as a guest feature.
Good collaboration from some true musical vets. MVP award goes to the one and only Faith Evans. 3.5 |

Faith still sounds great but something was missing from this to truly being enjoyable. I didn't like Chucky's production or Snoop's boring rap but even the lyrics were a drag. A shame since Faith has, has had actually, a great voice.

I think the song is too fast to allow Faiths verses to breath. It almost sounds like a dj has sped the song up to match the set of a tempo. If it had the tempo of Carl Thomas' I wish it would feel a little better.
Second the chords in the track are too busy and fighting the wordiness of the verses. Keys are sick, drums are thin, but it's too many melodies going on for the mind to latch on to that one thing that sticks out... 2.5 |

The song is pretty chill, not what I was expecting. Given what's going on in the mainstream amongst R&B/Soul singers, I wouldn't have put this as a single out into the current. IMO she needed another lead single like All Night Long. Just my opinion. Welcome back tho Faith.

being a bit young for faith i dont know much of her old stuff but after hearing this im ready to look her up and do some research. she didnt seem to have as much energy as some other r&b singers out there but she has this smoothness and confidence when she sings, snoop was unneccessary.

Hoamboy pretty much summed up how I felt about this track.
I hate to say it, but I think the end is near for Snoop (rhyming wise), its been a long time since I heard a good verse from one of the best of all time. |

beatspecific hit it on the head with the production. Faith deserves at least 2 stars just for proving that she can successfully sing on anything, even a beat that is this busy. The melody is too much. It has an awkward 90's feel, and competes with her vocals. She handles it well, but something slower would have better accomodated her pace. This needed some heavy drums, a new melody, different tempo, and NO guest feature.

I'm with you Z...I have been watching so much Tupac online videos lately, that this song kind of seems like blasphemy! Faith still sounds good after all these years (nice and smooth)! Go ahead and rep for DIRTY JERZ Ma! Not really loving the track, however. The beat is OK and the song is decent. I like the effect they use for Snoop's voice. Good, and easy flow by Snoop...Rotation!

You know, I wanted to like this track, I really did, but it's just not happening. I'm a Faith fan, and she does her thing here, but the track feels flat to me. It's lacking that extra bit of emotion of hook that really sucks me in. Frankly, it might be the production - Faith deserves better.

This song almost sounds out of date. Like they recorded it 10 years ago and finally decided to release it. Like others, I wanted to like it, but I couldnt.

Faith does her best to carry the track, but snoop is not doing this track any favors. On the production side its ok but i feel it could be a little slower to accommodate Faith's singing style.

Oh Faith! I have been waiting to hear some new material from you for so long. This song kind of opened like that M.C. ft. snoop joint. I love her voice, but it seems a little more matured at this point. I'd love to see Faith transcend into a different category besides love.

I really like the laid back feel to this song, I think Snoop’s addition could have been better but overall it’s a solid song.
