Everliven Sound - What Should He Do
Artist: Everliven Sound
Producer: Task Productions
Album: Freedom of Speech: The Last Word Benders
Label: HipNott Records/Freedom
New mixtape cut What Should He Do may be Everlivin Sounds first feature but, in actuality, the duo’s only half-new to the Booth. That’s right: Jersey emcee and longtime reader favorite CyMarshall Law‘s linked up with UK rapper Skit Slam for a border-crossing collaborative mixtape that, judging by leak numero uno, promises to be pretty damned dope. First to flow over Task Productions’ head-noddable beat (sampled from the Manhattans’ Follow Your Heart), Law roars out the gate with such intricately-rhymed quotables as “I got struck by lightning, now I’m black like my ethnicity / and when I write, my pen conducts electricity.” Skit comes with a more down-to-Earth, but equally fresh style on the track’s latter portion, delivering bars laced with surprisingly practical advice. What should you do if you’re digging this track? Easy: download a copy of Everlivin Sounds’ Booth-hosted Freedom of Speech: The Last Word Benders mixtape when it drops May 10.

Well isn't this just an expected, but nice surprise? Usually I am down on all seemingly random collaborative efforts (you know, the ones that weren't put together for any reason other than 'why not'?), but this is definitely fresh.
I favor Cy over Skit on the mic, but hands down I have become a fan of Task Productions. If they have more songs on this mixtape, we'll have a banger on our hands. |

Nice laid-back feel on this one. I've never given CyMarshall Law a listen before but, after hearing him on this, I definitely plan on looking up some of his past features. The same goes to Skit Slam.
I'm feeling this. Banger. On a side note, I love the sample. |

Richard and DJ Z both used the word I was thinking of as I listened to this song, fresh. In almost every way; the lyrics were entertainingly witty lyrics, comical upbeat, and great flow.
Production was creative, listening to this song put a smile on my face. I'll be sure to check out their mixtape when it drops. |

Really random collabo here. The beat is lacking here and not enjoying the hook really. The lyrics were straight, but not feeling this collabo that we have here. A lil too laid back for me. Just a rotation song for me.

Man part of the production reminds me of something I would hear on a 50s TV show. And it works really well too.
I am always interested to hear what collabos like this sound, and both CyMarshall Law and Skit Slam meld well together on "What Should He Do." Some ill wordplay and a great beat to back it up. Has a real unique feel to it, not something I have heard in a while. Loved both verses about the same, definitely something I will have to listen to a few more times to really appreciate. Some real good work on this track by Everliven Sound, I will have to check this mixtape out because I definitely want to hear some more. |

This is the kinda beat that i would expect to hear Talib on...which is saying alot. Laws goes hard on this but Skit Skam was cool too coming with a fresh new sound. In the end however, Task Productions comes away as the most memorable contributor. 3.5 stars

as a virgin group too my ears this first listen is pretty good but DJ-Z i really like skit slam on this beat he just sounds extra fresh and comes off with un-atchable swag that just absorbes into the instrumental so well.
and cymarshall does his thing but at the end of the day skit slam is still who's stuck in my head at the moment so i wasnt really enjoying anything at the begining but it picked up towards the middle too the end and i got something out of it so props to production on the finish. as a mix-tape song its pretty fresh so i give it 3.5 great effort on both artist truly making this track unforgettable |

I liked both the production and the lyrics. This is a good song to listen to on a lazy sunday afternoon. These two make a good collaboration.

I just didn't feel this song. The lyrics were deceptively weak. I suppose they have a good delivery, but the content is lame. Very simple and cliche. I also thought the production was boring. I appreciated it a little more after upping the volume, but its still not that special.

glad to see CyMarshall back on the mic! loved some of his previous stuff (juggling, harder than thou) so its refreshing to have him in the booth again. i thought he out-spat skit on this one but not by much. production wins overall though

They certainly created a chemistry here that should not go unnoticed. CyMarshall Law tears the track some proper, weaving in and out effortlessly with a dynamic style (on second verse). Musically, it hits all the right notes, sample acts as a perfect platform for them, knowing when to make noise and when to shut up. Excellent stuff!
And I totally disagree with @Z or anyone bout Skit Slam. That third verse was the best, cadence of GFK and flow/rhymes reminded me of Fashawn for all the good reasons. Loved it! My Pick for Track of the Day. |

Cy was definately better on this. Flow was nice. Liking the old school taste to the beat.

This takes me back to the good old days of hip hop. Before being gangsta and trying to act all hard was priority #1, and where MCs actually put serious thought into their rhymes. I agree with Mr. Top Hat, the sample does act as the perfect platform for them. This was some good stuff.
Production on this really relaxes the hell out of me, which is always a good thing. The instrumentals in the background really compensate for a bit of the lyrics, but regardless, I must say, CyMarshall takes my vote for the better of the two. Skit had some good word play, and as a duo I see these two really putting out some quality music. Clearly a banger, take my word for it. |

I like this old school feeling beat by Task...it's just really smooth and allows both Cy and Skit to showcase their skillz on the mic. They both did thier thang but Cy seemed to have come out on top even if it wasn't a competition between the two. Skit does bring that distinct sound from the UK. I really enjoy listening to tracks that the artists can just flow and have the production playing nicely in the background.

The feel-good vibe of the beat is just sweet as hell. For some reason, I'm getting a groovy Chi-town imagery in my head. The foregone days of pimps and hustlers, dancing to the everyday rhythm of Chicago life.
Great combination of multi-liners and single-liners. Really brings the song together with the whole-verse rhyme. And the "yo yo yo yo yo... " at the end, heheh. Pure fun right there. Man, just good old hip hop sound, like a fine home-cooked meal. I need some yam and sweet potato pie lol. |

Is there a problem in the mixing? The first verse sounded distorted, but that's not the case right? Well, i don't mind having the beat sounding louder, it's perfect background stuff!
