With the recent release of Booth-sponsored prelude mixtape The Last Word Benders (available for free streaming and download here, for all you slowpokes who have yet to check it out), HiPNOTT Records duo Everliven Sound have gotten a nice buzz going, but that was, of course, only the beginning. Today, Cymarshall Law and Skit Slam are back to stoke the flames of anticipation yet higher with rousing lead single Get Up, Stand Up. While this cut doesn’t seem to be directly inspired by Bob Marley’s reggae classic of the same name, listeners craving some exotically smooth production won’t be disappointed. The Beatnikz’ Afrobeat-informed groove strikes the perfect note of laid-back energy as Cymarshall and Skit lace the track with tightly-wound, pop-referential braggadocio: “Inside the hood, I make more shawtys than Tiger Woods / Emcees, I burn ‘em up like fire should – good. You will never take my title belt; my flow is water and I hit trees like Michael Phelps.” Those digging this track can find Get Up and much more on Freedom II, set to hit stores June 22.

I highly suggest you do as the title suggests (love it when this happens) - get up and stand up. Don't turn off your computer or the music will stop (plus you'll be selling yourself short of a dope feature), but groove to the rhymthic production and solid rhymes of the Everliven duo.

CyMarshall is a beast on the mic. I really enjoyed his verse and the simplistic production wasn't a letdown either. Hook wasn't the greatest, but when you have great verses does the hook really matter? To an extent yes, and it is the main reason this track wont exceed three stars. Solid effort.

Def one of the best features today. Dope flowing and the beat was on point. Everything meshed together so damn well

Would have loved to have heard even a short Marley sample.

As for the music, yubu8 nailed it. This doesn't grab you and demand you love it, but if you let the smooth beat and dope flows wash over way, there's no way you're not enjoying it (double negative). I'll always support quality music - viva Everliven!

The production is nice on this. Flows are nice too, sounds like it just keeps coming at you. Kinda gets boring after a while though.
