Have you ever heard one of your friends say “The grass is always greener on the other side”? Obviously UK singer Estelle has, because on her second single her eyes are on an American Boy. Of course any trip stateside wouldn’t be complete without a stop in Chicago, or more specifically the “West Side.” Featured and produced by none other than Kanye, the acclaimed MC boasts about his popularity in the UK and throws in some old-English terminology along the way. While Estelle impresses with her vocals, Ye’s electric-guitar beat will have audiences on both sides of the pond enjoying American Boy. Flight attendants prepare for takeoff; Estelle’s album Shine is set to leave the runway in February.
Wow, really enjoying this beat. Something fresh to start the week off. Kanye can really pull off the funk beat and Estelle is really good. I still feel that she doesn't really fit in the rnb genre; her voice is all 'jazz'.
I first heard this track last week and it has been growing on me ever since. Kanye West comes out strong with a catchy intro and Estelle's vocals bring out the best of West's happy production. I hope this gets some airplay in the U.S., the hook is hot and Kanye keeps it fresh!
KANYE WEST is THE MAN! What a fresh, feel good beat!! Can listen to this all day! Estelle voice is impeccable, melody is joyful and flow is pleasing from both. Kanye’s a great producer as well as an amazing rapper!!!
I thought I would hate this song when it first came on, and I was right! This is not my cup of tea, even though the beat is kind of hot. Put Estelle on the hook, and make it a Kanye feat. Twista track, and its a hit!!
This is very much sounding like a wanna-be amy winehouse. No one can do what she does quite like she does, but she tries here. I think this is more clever on the part of Kanye for the beat, but overall, I'm not really feeling this track and I wouldn't play it back again. It's not garbage, cuz I think kanye held it down on the beat, but the song all together just isn't my cup of tea...Amy would have done it way better...
Yo Z, I think if someone else had made this same beat, this song would still be a hit. Kanye just happens to be some of the rappers who would fit this beat (Lupe, Pharrel,JayZ…). Anyway, Estelle holds the song perfectly on her own, is more talented than the average female singer and I don’t see any reason for comparison with Amy Winehouse (DjBlaze you talking like you know Estelle, goin as far as assuming she tries to do it like Amy, that’s just speculation! And there’s not a song on Amy’s album that sounds like this.)
ooo its real different from everythin out at the moment and its nice to hear somthin fresh but its just not the kinda thing im into.. hard2 rate this 1.. ima give it a 3star koz kanye is just CRAZY and its nice 2 hear somthin a lil diffrent
aha I like how three people in a row wrote "not my cup of tea" how generic. But this is a good tune, very english on the production, he did a great job fitting it in with her accent. This is smart, but no offense, the english girls dont usually like american guys, theres lots of reasons, but I wont be the one to tell you and have you dislike me...lol. I give it a 4!
damn this is some disco for ya ass, Kanye I will hunt you down if it comes back lmao!
and what is up with hunnies dress?
she looks like a Gecko lol!
playin yall this is interesting, with a heavier beat it could be sick.
i heard this song on a mixtape awhile back forgot all about it glad to find it again love kayne on this love her voice love the production id like to see a common & Alicia keys thing going on with these 2
yo if anybody has Will.i.am's CD...he has a song that is basically the same beat as this...the song is called Impatient...look it up...and tell me im lying...but aside from that I love this song
