Jersey rapper Ess Vee may have taken a lengthy seven month hiatus from the DJBooth, but his latest single Loungin’ is so smooth that his absence will likely be the last thing on your mind while you’re listening. The title Loungin’ holds up its end of the bargain, proving to be a perfect accompaniment to lounging around and shooting the breeze with good company. Over the Ante-produced musical foundation Ess Vee drops verses about lounging poolside with his lady and well, “getting numbers like SoundScan.” Ante keeps things pretty mellow behind-the-boards thanks to his use of hand drums (the ultimate mellow-mood maker) and relaxed percussion.  I dig the production, and the chorus is a real enjoyable, laid back listen, but the verses are all middle of the road for me. Ess Vee can do more, I want to hear it.

Maybe its the melody, the verses or the hook but this has a old school west-side laid back hip hop feel....and I love it. 5 stars...keep up the amazing work.
