Introduced to the Booth via the T.I.-assisted Sip It, R&B singer Ernie Gaines surprisingly selected a different record as his first official single. Most readers are probably thinking, “What does Ernie have in store that could possibly be better than such a major collabo?” Well, dear Booth-heads, let’s see if we can find the answer. On the record, Ernie remembers a woman who caught his eye, responding “No” when he asked her if she had a man. When she suddenly begins behaving strangely towards him, the Atlanta/Jersey native is compelled to ask her once again. Ernie’s voice definitely steals the show here, but Rich Younglord‘s mid-tempo production helps make No an enjoyable listen. Now that you know why Ernie Gaines made his debut single choice, do you think it will catch on nationally? Let’s hope the title isn’t indicative of the answer.

I don't really like the production. It's uber weird. Ernie's vocals are decent and crispy though. Not bad at all. I'll give it rotation.

MH I haven't heard the word "uber" for a while now haha. Anyway, nice voice but voice didn't really click with the beat.

I can see potential in him - he just needs to find a good way to use it..... Nice smooth track to bump ...

MH - you are right, the production is unique. But I think that actually plays to Ernie's benefit. It almost forces you to focus in on his voice and the melody of his song.
Great voice, wish he harmonized over his own vocals MORE during the chorus. Solid effort. |

Although weird, I like the beat because it accentuates the staccato of Gaines singin at some points. But the songs still has to grow on me a bit i think.

Yeah I agree with MH, the production is really weird. I like it but it's not very smooth. Ernie's vocals are great, even though he has got a typical r&b voice, not so different from others already known. In rotation

I really liked Sip It. But this is cool too. I agree w/ the Booth posters, his vocals are smooth, unlike this chop chopy beat. I would listen to it if it came on, but I wouldn't go out of my way to play it. The beat doesn't pull me in enough. But this cat has potential.

Wow the beat really hits, coming from a guy with computer speakers equipped with a sub. Great all around really.

Ernie Gains is still doin it how its supposed to be done. This song has a fly beat and he has a fresh voice. A straight banger from start to finish!
