Eminem - 2.0 Boys
Artist: Eminem
Featuring: Yelawolf , Slaughterhouse
Producer: Will Power, K.P. and Eminem
Album: TBD
Label: Shady/Aftermath/Interscope
After 2.0 Boys is done, you might need to sit down and reflect on what the hell just happened. The barrage of rhymes spit by Eminem, Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf are enough to knock you over. Over punching drums and a lo-fi synth produced by Will Power, K.P. and Eminem himself, the Shady Records affiliates put on a clinic, showcasing both prowess and extreme hunger to take over the rap world. There really isn’t a flat verse in 2.0; the track’s solid from the beat-riding flow of Ortiz to the erratic, staccato style of Yelawolf. No doubt this is a lyrical all-star game. It’s evident that Shady has an eye for emcees who – like himself—have serious writing skills; each verse is crafted like a well-written novel. All the new labelmates did their thing, but Em and Joell had me assaulting the replay button. Like esteemed Booth editor Nathan said, “[2.0] isn’t a record, it’s a warning.” Shady Records just poked its head out into the rap game and the talent on this team is serious. No word on an full-length album yet, so be sure to keep it locked for more.

Does that make D12, Stat Quo, Obie Trice, and Bobby Creekwater the "1.0 Boys"? Sorry, I'm writing out loud. Yeah, so, if you like hip hop you cannot NOT like this record. Its a beast. A monster. A tiger. A lion. Yeah... you get the point.

I'm a white boy, but I'm not feeling either of the white dudes on this track. I've never liked Yelawolf (except for his verse on How Low Remix) and Eminem's diction is awful on this. Can't understand half of the sh*t he's saying. Yelawolf kinda has the same problem on this too.
Other than that, Joell's Rolls Royce line was sick. Budden had a couple of sick ones, and so did Crooked. Royce kinda let me down on this. Imma give it a 4, but Em and Yela almost brought this down to a 3. If it was just those 2, I'd give it a 1 |

I Fox wit it! Em's verse could be better. But it's still good. Hope this 2.0 shizz lives up to what I expect.

Bar by Bar this crew can't miss. Pulling the track(s) together is going to be hard part.
Ortiz for me on this one (after my earlier plug for Yela). Em w SH works. Yela (surprisingly?) is on point |

Yelawolf is the only one that went as hard as the beat goes. But they all went in. But TELL me you can't feel Yelawolf's energy here

The only thing I half to say about this song, is that it is amazing, the first time I was done listing to it, I was like wow, what just happened.

Em's verse is getting way too much hate. His verse was good, it was just too quiet, with has to do with production, not his skills. Other than that, this song was straight fire from the moment Royce rhymed "homicidal misfit" with "biophysics". 4.5 Overall.

Very difficult task to meet expectations with this lineup and I think all artists did a great job of meeting them. Not the best song you ever heard, but it's hard and straight to the point. Well done.
