Eminem - Session One
Artist: Eminem
Featuring: Slaughterhouse
Producer: Just Blaze
Album: Recovery
Label: Shady/Aftermath/Interscope
Well isn’t this a real “OMG” moment (no, not that OMG). After rumors of Eminem’s eagerness to sign Slaughterhouse to his Shady Records imprint, hip-hop’s white knight has finally teamed up with the internet version of the Wu-Tang Clan for their collabo track Session One. On the boards is the incomparable Just Blaze, who channels the same energy on Session One that made Exhibit C an instant classic as heavy guitars and James-Farrior-esque drums (hard hitting) consume the track. This time around though, the group (sans Budden) aren’t talking partying and drinking, although unofficial group leader Royce Da 5’9” spits a verse drowned in bars stronger than 151. But while Slaughterhouse holds their own, they (just like the Ninja Turtles) are no match for their sensei. Master Splinter (aka Eminem) is more potent than ever on his opening verse and with lines like “you can call me R. Kelly/ now urine trouble,” his portion alone makes this a must-download. Make sure to go out and buy Em’s latest Recovery, from which this is one of two bonus cuts.

Now THIS is what I'm talking about! This is what would have had me excited for "Recovery." I cannot believe this record just shafted as an iTunes-only bonus track. Everyone brought their A-game. Everything I could ask for in a hip hop record and more.
My question - where is Joey? |

Damn that was hot. Is it me or does Royce's verses sound forced lately? His punchlines are like when you taking a shit and give it your everything in a minute of struggle with your stomach.......and the piece of shit is really-really small.
Not this time around though |

Definitely a dope record right here. And you are right Z, why only a iTunes bonus track?
This is a type of track they should make a video for, just for the hell of it. The Diggers Union Local 1200 Hevehitta on Twitter |

I really haven't felt any of Slaughterhouse lately other than Joe Budden, which isn't here. Where is Jump-Off Joe Beezy? haha But they all came pretty damn hard. I thought Joell had worst verse, but it was still fire. They shoulda replaced this with So Bad. Still a fvckin GREAT album. Need to see more of these collabs. |

i hate to ruin a perfect rating, but im not gunna give 5 stars to a song that i dont think is. the only reason im not gunna give this 5 stars is that i dont think the flows meshed well. im not sayin these artists cant sound great together on a track, but i dont think they do here.

I was a little disappointed from seeing all the straight 5 star ratings, was expecting something AMAZING. but this is just average for eminem (which is great for everyone else) everyone else did their thing, solid track.

Hey Nathan S, did you stop letting comments go through on Recovery because of all the hate you were getting for that review of it.
Cuz I posted my review of it, and it didn't show up. |

@JayCL: no Venom did not drop, Chams an idiot. He had a very successful single (Good Morning) and didn't feed off of it. He shoulda released another single, then dropped the album. But no, instead he made me buy a bullsh1t mixtape (Major Pain). Well i guess he didn't make me, but he made it very misleading. I thought the songs were gonna be off original beats. But nooooooooooooo, they werent. What a fvckin waste of money.

As mentioned in the comments over at RefinedHype, Joe couldn't appear on this, and the deal with Shady isn't finished yet, as Amalgam is keeping Joey typed up.
I -STILL- haven't finished listening to Recovery. I feel bad for it, but this track was a good knock to the head. @*#$! dope. |

@Joe92 - I remember Good Morning kicking things off at a decent potion (I think it was around the 50s?), but I'm pretty sure that didn't hold on long enough for an album release. That said, Cham's buzz on the internet HAS been muffled over the time since then.

What a suprise, a record label once again stops a track from becoming a instant classic.
The production from Blaze knocks real hard and all four sound dope, though I think the Joey could of seriously destroyed this track (even more then those present). |

Obviously a little disappointing not to hear Joey on the track - it would have been sick to hear him and Em go head to head - but there's nothing more you can ask for from a hip-hop track than this. And I'm not surprised it was a bonus track - it might be the best cut off the album, but it doesn't fit the mood of the rest of the album. Instant classic.
And come on @Joe92, I can take all the hate you can dish out. Sorry your comment didn't show up, must have been a technical problem. I certainly didn't delete it. I just emailed you, hit me back and we'll get your comment up. |

that was nice word play from Em on the opening verse... you can call me R. Kelly/ now urine (you're in) trouble. I wonder why Joe Budden wasn't on here. Track sounded too long and kind of lost interest towards the end.
