This is like when Run DMC and Aerosmith got together, I swear. Two of the biggest names in modern music culture have teamed up for a collaboration that has radio screaming number one, and with the Recovery album sales - 750K sold in the first week! - to go along with it, Eminem is sure to be “walking this way” to the bank with Rihanna after the duo’s new single Love the Way You Lie truly takes off. A combination almost as powerful as Chuck Lidell’s jab-to-kick pairing, Love the Way You Lie features producer Alex da Kid crafting a complex yet catchy beat that pushes Eminem to one of his most honest moments on the raw and emotional Recovery. But it’s pop princess Rihanna, whose lends an international appeal and sugary vocals on the hook, who really takes this song from first-class flight to spaceship status. And while the subject matter doesn’t exactly scream party favorite, Love the Way You Lie still has the potential to be one of the most popular songs of the new decade. Anyone dare disagree?

Two thoughts:
1) When I saw the track listing for Recovery before the album dropped, and I saw Rihanna was listed as a guest feature, I knew her inclusion was strictly single driven. However, if ever there was to be an Eminem x Rihanna collabo record, I couldn't have thought out a more appropriate and convincing end result. 2) Expect this record to be one of the highest selling... of Em's entire career. |

very unexpected collabo, but wen u put two of the best in hip hop together u can expect a pretty significant result.

This is definitely the best Rap/R&B collab of the past year (even better than Empire State of Mind imo)

Definitely a very strong song that has loads of potential on the radio. Eminem and pop fans will both be able to enjoy this song without feel like they are selling out. Rihanna just puts the perfect touch on the hook and Mr Mathers brings the heat on his verses.
Is this a big song? Hell yes. Is this going to be THAT big, possibly but I just don't see it becoming one of his best, he has too many top caliber songs already (can you even consider that a problem?). So when is B.o.B. going to hop on part 2? |

I doubt Em made this song for the radio, if he can make a song like Crack A Bottle or Not Afraid go #1, he dosen't need to work with someone like Rihanna for a hit. The song of course will be a smash.
Em was great but if he dosen't need to work with Rihanna, don't. She's the total opposite of his style and the two don't blend well. The song is alright but Rihanna was a bad choice. |

Funny enough, this wasn't one of my favourite songs on the album BUT it still is awesome, shows how good 'Recovery' really is.

One of the several classics off of Recovery. This is what Eminem needs to get some radio play. Obviously, the violent, hardcore rap Eminem so often records doesn't make for great radio. This song has the potential to get Eminem back into the spotlight to a point where the radio would actually play a solo song like "Spacebound" in the future if he released it as a single. I'll be quite interested to see what songs he releases as singles following "Not Afraid" and this one. "Won't Back Down" will probably be one. I get the feeling that "No Love" is too long of a song to get a lot of radio play. I really hope he gives "Spacebound" a shot as the 5th single.

Awesome. Eminem has had hits for over a decade now and its looking like he's reaching a new peak in his already legend-status career. Another #1 for sure, 5 stars.

The circumstances that led to the Rihanna feature makes this so genuine and powerful. With the proper proportions, or just humanity, anyone can relate to this.
Em paints a graphic, gripping picture and his psychotic flow fitted this perfectly. It was a relief that Rihanna actually sounded good (it's not a sure bet), but the biggest surprise was the production, probably the most commercial of Em's career. (get over it!) Not a single flaw on this one! |

I don't exactly understand the message that this song is conveying but it's a banger none the less. possibly a classic. I can't rate it a classic because i don't understand it lol

Im not really feeling this to the degree that most of you are. Nothing on this is out and out great. The production & the hook are decent, though arnt ground breaking & Eminem sounds exactly the same on nearly every track on Recovery. 3.5

top 5 song off of the album. Great hook from Rihanna, and i have to say she stole the show even though she doesn't do much. That hook is amazing. Em brings solid lyrics. Who thinks Space Bound or 25 to Life should be the next single??

Em killed as usual it kind of gave me like a more mature version of Stan. But it is a great song and never in a million years would I think Rihanna would be working with Eminem. But it works, fits like a glove.

Incoming hit alert! No hip-hop Gods can stop this (and "Talkin' To Myself") from becoming worldwide smash hits and burning cash registers or crashing down iTunes servers. Heck, if "Not Afraid" can reach the top spot with some of the cheapest drum programming I've ever witnessed. I'm 90% sure those drum sounds were pilfered from some free, downloadable piece of shareware. The first time I listened to it (Not Afraid), I felt the urge to forward the link of "How to humanize your drum patterns" to Boi-1Da.
As for this joint, I don't think I could've said anything better than @FredRico's feedback. While the album isn't without its faults or perfect as it is being touted by some fans but it certainly sees the rapper broadening his horizons and willing to experiment and move forward with both his sound and actions - while still delivering songs that tread old territories. All good in my book. |

Same guy who produced Airplanes yeah? I'm a sucker for songs fit for the radio, and with that being said, this would have to be one of my favourite songs off of the album. I came by a live version of this on Youtube, and even though Rihanna doesn't sound heaps good singing this song live, wicked collab.

When it was revealed that Pink and Rihanna would be two of the three guest features on Recovery all the hardcore Em fans pooed their pants in anger, but both tracks turned out to be some of the best on the album. I don't think anyone could have predicted how this would have turned out, but it's one hell of a record. Rihanna's given herself just enough of a dark rock edge of the last couple years to make her sound at home on an Em track.

I don't understand the sympathy and fascination people have for rihanna(it must be because she looks like a wounded animal). She deserves about as much compassion as Chris Brown. In the immediate aftermath of getting her ass beat, she comes out with songs about how she needs a "rude boy" and how she "loves the way you lie". Great role model for the kids. Em is about the same as he is on the rest of this album. The song will do well simply because of it's general formula (popular singer+popular rapper+crossover beat=#1 hit single), but if this does better than "Stan", "The real slim shady" or "lose yourself", it will be simply due to our modern technology and means of measure, not due to the quality of music.

@Joe92... I'd love to see "Spacebound" as a single. That said, I think he's going with Not Afraid, Love the Way You Lie, No Love, Talkin' 2 Myself, and Won't Back Down as the singles. I personally wish he'd try out "Spacebound" as a single rather than "No Love" or "Won't Back Down." I really don't think "No Love" is single material, it is too long in general with long verses and a loud hate-it-or-love-it hook. He could also drop "Talkin' 2 Myself." All in all, I can't see him dropping 4 singles with features so "Spacebound" has a shot. It has a "Mockingbird"-ish sound to it that may work as the 5th single. I don't really know. Just some random speculation.

@ Nathan S: dude their were 4 features included, not 3 man. Rihanna, Pink, Wayne, and KOBE (who delivers one of the best hooks on the album). I just keep seeing you say that their are 3 features, and i just finally have to say something. The CD clearly has 4 features listed. Sorry, its just been getting on my nerves. Its not only you though thats saying 3 features.

This is CLASSIC $hit! I didn't think this song would work either...Who would have ever thought Em and Rihanna could do a sick track together. This is Waaaaay better than my expectations. I don't give out too many 5-star ratings, but this is sick. The whole production is right and Rihanna comes up big on the chorus. Eminem is speakin that truth...He's the best MC alive...Betta Believe it!
