Emilio Rojas - Home
Producer: J. Glaze
Album: Uncontested EP
Label: Unsigned
Puma makes dope kicks, DJBooth plays dope music and Emilio Rojas is a dope rapper, so it was only right that we all came together for the cornucopia of dopeness that is Home. The second release off Puma and DJBooth’s collaborative upcoming album (the first was Gilbere Forte and Freeway’s Winner), Home is everything we’ve come to expect from Rojas. A somber, subtly rock infused beat by J. Glaze topped with an achingly beautiful hook from JoyLuv? Check. An intensely personal delivery from Rojas that’s equal parts rap and confessional? Check. Lyrics that acknowledge a dark past but also believes in a better future (”A vicious cycle I knew I couldn’t shake it / and now it’s lookin like I’m gonna make it”)? Check and double check. If you like your hip-hop not just real but fearlessly real, welcome Home. So mark your calendar, stick a post-it on the fridge, whatever you have to do, just remember that Puma’s Uncontested EP drops next Monday, July 25, right here on DJBooth. In the meantime, the impatient can expect one last leak courtesy of Laws to hold them over – keep it locked.

Emilio Rojas has been my favourite emcee over the last 2 and a half years, he just keeps consistantly dropping dope and heartfelt music and he never forgets to add an intense flow to mark it a home run. Loving this joint here, can't wait for the mixtape to drop

I think Emilio is the best artist out right now period. He does this sort of record, and then has Right To Stay, Bold and Arrogant, Runway, Breaking Me Down, etc. He is all over the map, but all feel authentic and he always sounds hungry.
This is no exception to me. Great song. |

He came through with great verses. The producer came through with a great beat and the singer's voice and chorus was real good too. Everything flowed together perfectly. I hope he breaks through mainstream and starts to get more recognition.

@Mack Man - we have heard better from him indeed. It was a good track but not his best. He is capable of greater things...

Yea, I mean we've heard him top this but that doesn't mean that this isn't a banger.
