You’ve gotta love a good fake-out. While the fanfare that kicks off Emilio Rojas’ latest offering had me thinking “For the Win,” I should have known better than to think success would smooth the Rochester, New York native’s rough edges. In reality, of course, he’s using the acronym FTW in the classic, less-uplifting sense. Backed by DJ Static‘s bombastic synth-brass instrumental, the freestyle series alum demonstrates that “triumphant nihilism” isn’t necessarily an oxymoron, shouting “F*ck the world!” while demonstrating beyond a shadow of a doubt that he’s on top of it (double-entendre not intended – but, hey, if the shoe fits…). Joining him on the guest tip, ATL representative Killer Mike/Mike Bigga does his part to push the record’s F-bomb count to stratospheric levels, showcasing a few dazzling flows along the way. If you don't like the word "F**k" you probably shouldn't listen to this record. Just saying. OK, PSA over. For everyone else, "FTW" is a winner. Static's production has an epic feel, vocally Killer Mike provides a nice contrast to Rojas, and the end result is a banger (like the whole tape).
A future staple of this industry...

Wow Emilio went to work in this. This is a great record. He just keeps doing hard, great, solid records. I really love the production from DJ Static in this. Also the feature of Mike Bigga is really awesome. What's next from this dude?? I'm guessing.... Greatness. A def banger.

As I wrote elsewhere, congrats to Emilio for breaking Rick Ross's "Most f*cks per line" record, which Ross set on "Hustlin":
"Who the f*ck you think you f*ckin wit I'm the f*ckin boss." Besides making obscenity hip-hop history, this is a dope track, and I promise it's completely indicative of the "Life Without Shame" album. Emilio's getting better every day.
