As Scottish soul singer Emili Sandé admitted on her recent DJBooth debut, navigating the business side of the music industry can sometimes make her feel like a Clown. In moments like those, the moral support of a significant other can make all the difference. On new U.S. promo single By My Side, an updated version of a cut previously released in the UK, the artist lets her guy know just how happy she is to have a good man in her life, celebrating his loyalty and steadfastness over driving, piano-led production by Hugo Chegwin. In addition to the headliner’s earnest verses and explosive chorus, this rendition of the record boasts newly-added guest bars from a characteristically on-point (if slightly hoarse) Kendrick Lamar. The original, Lamar-less incarnation of Next to Me can be found on Emili’s debut set, Our Version of Events, available now in stores and online.

Emili Sande has a nice voice. I'm not really into this beat or this track much. Kendrick was OK on it.

This song didn't quite feel "right" but I'd like to hear the vocalist on a track that fits her better. I'm always down with Kendrick.

Why on earth was this country song produced with a rap? this is a major fail don't do it again. Now her other song Clown is great.

Kendrick you don't need to give every f*cking artist a feature! I liked the original but this is just a marketing strategy to pull new fans towards Kendrick's album.
