The Embassy Music Board - Dead Music
Producer: Don Cannon
Album: The 400 Lounge
Label: Embassy Music Board
In a world where music has become stale and wack… (pan across empty record store, crickets chirping) … one man four men are determined to breathe new life into the game! (cue Back in Black as The Embassy Music Board stride away from a massive explosion) OK, maybe that’s a little over-the-top – you can stop reading this in a movie-trailer voice, by the way. What I mean to say is, on inaugural mixtape leak Dead Music, the ATL crew who brought us Booth-exclusive freestyle Congratulations lament the unfortunate trends they see plaguing hip-hop (ringtone rap, jail sentences, et cetera), and announce their intent to act as agents of change. Over DJ Don Cannon‘s spacey boardwork, sampled from Manfred Mann’s Belle of the Earth, rappers Big A, Baby D.O.E., K.O. and Manolo teach by example, interweaving their gripes with dope punchlines: “We’re gonna take it back, like bad barbers with hairlines.” Find yourself nodding in agreement with the EMB’s diagnosis of the industry? Then keep it locked for the latest on the Cannon-hosted 400 Lounge, which has yet to receive a solid release date.

Well done, gentlemen!
We haven't heard from the guys in a hot minute, but what a reintroduction to our readers? Everything works here. If the new Cannon-hosted tape sounds more like "Dead Music," it will be a solid listen. |

I agree. Lyrics on point, production is spacey yet totally down to earth. 4* all day long.

I have to agree. Lyrically its real cool. The beat has a sleepy space groove but it's cool though. I like it overall.

I didn't like Cannon's production, but overall, they can rap and people can relate to the issues their talking about.

I dont like this, at all. His voice starts off way to loud, and he goes in too hard too fast. Also, i really dont like the production from Don. This record is just really annoying. Sorry....

I agree with the above comment, the production is annoying. the only thing I found remotely enjoyable is the hook.

Its a good song. However, there is nothing standout about it. Therefore, it don't make for a very memorable song.
