Refill, which careful DJBooth users first got a taste of via yesterday’s coverage of Elle’s NYC concert, owes its unique sound to Pop Wansel, who crafts quite possible the first bluegrass x R&B jam in the history of music. I can't believe what I just listened to, A FIDDLE. And I loved every minute of it. I like Elle, and I was wondering if she could deliver after her fantastic debut single. She did.

This beat by Pop Wansel is sick! Really good board-work. Never heard of Elle Varner before, but she has a really nice voice. Chorus is cool. I'll put this on the BANGER list. Good Music.

Geez that production is so sick someone has to drop at least 16 bars as this is too short. Good to see an RnB artist stickin' to the better side of my enjoyments, not too poppy. Tryna think which artists would sound sick over that beat. Man, stuff it, her and J.Cole sound so good together, remix with Mr. Cole FTW.

I can listen to Elle's voice everyday all day! The fiddle is dope and not too far out front. Nice BIG chorus. Can't wait for Perfectly Imperfect!

I can't believe I just sat through and enjoyed that.
The fiddle makes it unique and stand out. I wasn't sure if I'd grow to really like or really dislike the fiddle after repeat listens. So far so good, but it still feels weird to hear lol. I gotta give it 4.5 stars for quality R&B and successfully pulling that off. I feel like I need a drink after this. |
