21-year-old Elijah Kelley has already made a name for himself in the film industry thanks to roles in Take the Lead and Hairspray. Ready to jump from the silver screen to the “vinyl disc,” the young talent is preparing to take the R&B/pop world by storm with his debut release, Love Letter. The project’s first single, I Got It, is a carbon copy of virtually every R&B single before it; desperately trying to get with a ‘certain female’, Kelley will do whatever it takes. A Timbaland-esque dancefloor beat by Darryl “Darulah” Farmer should help to ensure crowds will anticipate the September release of Love Letter just as much as his next film role.
I'm a sucker for the synth style Timbo-type production. I liked it when it first came in. It may be a carbon copy style, but okay nevertheless. Elijah Kelley is decent. I feel the beat should be louder and something is missing from this song to make it a hit. For now, it just goes in rotation. Sitting from here, it's not that good of a track overall. As a matter of fact. I'm gon downgrade it to 2 stars
just another pop wannabe in my opinion. production is subpar and the beat isnt very original. if this came out a few years ago it mighta been a bigger hit, but with where music is at now this isnt gonna cut it.
Usually, its artists who are trying to become movie stars; not the other way around. All I do know is that its hard to balance two careers and by the sound of things, Kelley might be a better actor than he is an artist. There is too much going on with this beat and other than the Timbo angle, it is not fitting to Kelley's vocals.
Not real original, but he's got some potential for sure. good voice, nice beat...needs some work on the bass i think but the songs pretty good. Watch for this guy in the future.
I must admit I generally have the same tastes of WOW!! (except for when she considers Soulja Boy good lol)...I'm really feeling this song! You know,I don't care very much if this isn't fresh, the important is that it makes me dance! I appreciate also slow songs, with fresh productions and excellent lyrics of course. Quality is very important for a song, but not for a summer song in my opinion. Summer songs are seasonal, they make you dance and then you'll forget about them! At least this happens to me
