The Electric - The Overload
Artist: The Electric
Producer: DJ Vadim
Album: Hey You Guys! Mixtape
Label: OGS
Typically, an electrical Overload is something to be avoided – at best, you end up with a blown fuse; at worst, a house fire. With that said, I’m 99% sure The Electric‘s latest single won’t cause your headphones to burst into flames – although it is pretty hot, so you might want to keep a fire extinguisher handy just in case. Making its world premiere right here in the Booth, this laid-back joint finds DJ Vadim serving up a breezy blend of electro synths and head-noddable percussion as freestyle series alumnus Pugs Atomz chronicles his recent doings in bars packed with engaging (and occasionally appetizing) detail: “What I’ve been up to? Shows and features, on the daily like Odeon Theaters / with salmon on my plate, a deep-dish pizza.” UK soul songstress Sabira Jade rounds out the trio, augmenting the cut’s relaxing vibes with her luxurious chorus vocals. This electrifying joint and much more can be found on The Electric’s BamaLoveSoul/DJBooth.net-cosponsored Hey You Guys street album, scheduled to hit our Mixtape page for free streaming and download February 10.

Expertly crafted and very-well executed. Its rare for three individuals, from three different walks of life, to come together and form a music group that sounds cohesive. The Electric have that going for them. "Overload" is proof as much.

I may have enjoyed it more than him overall, but I have to say that Omaruk's 'this is like a song artists make that are on the album that only people that actually buy the album will ever hear'" is a pretty accurate description.
Something to enjoy, but not something you'll be telling other people "yo, you got to hear this." |
