Donnie Vash - Time Is Now
Producer: Majhor Gunz
Album: NINETEEN
Label: Unsigned
Is it just me, or has North Carolina been producing more than its fair share of talented up-and-comers lately? Whatever’s in the water that J. Cole, Kooley High, A. Moss, and Tom Hardy (to name a few) have been sipping on seems to have found its way into the bloodstream of a Booth newcomer by the name of Donnie Vash. One-third of the Lazaretto Crew (which also includes recent reader favorite King Mez), the Raleigh-based rapper warns the game of his impending takeover on new mixtape leak Time Is Now. Here, Majhor Gunz’ gritty, old-school samples set the stage for fittingly hard-hitting bars from DV and Brooklyn underground mainstay Shabaam Sahdeeq. Though S-Dubs’ witty braggadocio (“I take out whole fams like Windstars and Caravans.”) has an immediate appeal, Vash’s distinctively gruff flow can’t be denied – I’ll leave it to Booth readers to decide who came out on top. Fans can find plenty more high-impact jams straight outta the First in Flight State on the emcee’s NINETEEN mixtape, released March 12, and available now online.

Donnie (DV) had me at hello (just kidding). How can you not stay for the full three minutes plus after Majhor Gunz laces this record with a dope soul sample to kick things off? And Richard is 100% spot on... North Carolina is impressing me day by day with all the talent that is slowly coming out of the woodwork. Keep it up, fellas.

The hook did nothing to support this track. Everything else about this track is straight.

Damn. I mean damn. This one really sucked me in, big props to Majhor Gunz for the production, and while Sahdeeq doesn't blow me away (sorry, real talk), DV definitely brings some flavor. Well done.
Are my headphones acting up or is the audio on this a little off? |

Ahhh Shabaam Sahdeeq with Donnie Vash of the Lazaretto Crew?! Two strong lyricists on the same track with a good beat. Gotta give it 5 for its epicness and how they both came correct on the bars

DV is so conscious... His bars show a growth that's way older than his 19 years... 919 keep leading by example...

Were he present today, I'm sure @DJ Kidd would have had a field day with this! It is mixed but I refuse to believe its done mastered properly. Production is too... Raw (not mastered).
But it is so well delivered you can't help but love it and nod your head. Rotation fa sho! |

This song didn't really move me but I think it may move me after a few more listens... maybe I'm off today but the hottest thing about this track was the production.

You're finally here Donnie. I'm tired of shouting you out on King Mez's tracks. Keep putting 919 on the map. Great work.
