They don’t call ‘em Romance languages for nothing—no matter what you say, it just Sounds Sexy. On this new single by Dude N’ Nem, the Chi-town twosome who brought us Watch My Feet, Trygic and Upmost find themselves in a situation both confusing and arousing: an alluring chica at their local spot’s turning them on with sweet, Auto-Tuned nothings in her native tongue, but they just can’t seem to bridge the language gap. For those who didn’t take high school Spanish, a rough translation: “You know something, Daddy? Don’t talk to me, I’m with my friend. I want to drink.” (Correct me if I got anything wrong, of course) The concept makes for an unusually creative club record, and it’s also a very funny sendup of the way in which many Americans seem to hypersexualize foreignness—but that’s a discussion for another, um, sociology thesis that I’m never going to write. In any case, the twosome’s engaging rhymes, along with XCel‘s synth-handclap beat, add up to a juke-able club cut sure to get spins in the Chi and beyond. Stay tuned for further details on Dude N’ Nem’s forthcoming, yet-untitled project, set for release off Beat Bangers/The Orchard.

Hey Richard you got the translation correct except she says something different both times she says it!!
The next time she says "come talk to me and buy a drink" Anyway the auto-tune actually sounds good!! I just hate it when it's used when it doesnt need to be like in an r&b track (eh hem, Mary J, R. Kelly, Mariah, etc.... or when rappers use it!! This will sound good up in the clubs!! First time hearing these guys and i like what i'm hearing!! Looking forward to more!! |

@jerry: honestly, jay z has a name for himself. i dont think he has anything to hate on. he makes about as much $$$ as all the autotune rappers alive. PLUS he has beyonce lol. i dont like autotune much nor do i like "D.O.A."
so there needs to be a medium. |

@richard: she says "I don't want a drink" not "I want to drink"... she switches it up after that for the second half of the hook to say "come talk to me/ I'm with my friend/ I'll buy a drink." but other than that it was perfecto!
This is a decent club/dance track, just like their last joint. The comedy of it pushes it above other tracks just like this. The flows were decent and the production worked. |

@that1kid13: jay z has a name for himself, but what has he done lately (nothing great). it seems that he dislikes auto tune because he cannot compete with the "new" phenomenon...the game changes, and he should be more appreciative of it.

Humorous hook (not the spanish, but the fact the guys say he doesn't know)
The autotune part and producteion is the best part of the song. Dude 'N Nem sound as forgettable as their name implies. "You hear that new Sounds Sexy song" "By who"? "Oh, what's his name...you know, ol' dude 'n "Nem" |

i love the concept of this song. the autotune and hook is nice. their rapping is okay but doesnt ruin the song. nice! might be my ringtone within the next few days. i'm surprised i actually understood the hook look. BANGER
