Contrary to popular belief, while we do work together, and share very similar musical tastes, the homey DJ Z and I don’t always agree; like when it comes to The-Dream’s new single Make Up Bag (he’s apparently finally moving onto the second single now that’s he’s milked Love King for everything it’s worth). Now don’t get it twisted. Z’s a man of good taste, so like myself he’s enjoying Dream’s softly sparkling production, unstoppably smooth vocals and yet another on point guest verse from the recently released T.I. Instead, it’s the song’s theme he’s not connecting with. While on one level I can’t disagree – buying women bags for their make-up isn’t exactly Shakespearean – I feel like Dream’s developed the R. Kelly-esque ability to make even the most ridiculous topics sound good. So who are you with Booth? Me or Z? Has the Radio Killa finally fallen short of perfection, or is his winning streak still intact? One things for sure, both of us can’t wait for Dream’s Love King album to drop on June 22. Keep it locked for more.

Nathan is very right about two things (see above): I am a "man of good taste," and Dream has obviously influenced by R. Kelly. Other than that I cannot get into this song. Maybe its because it isn't meant for my ears (I'm a dude), or because I am not used to Dream veering off course like this - who knows?
Bring on "Love King," but hold the make up bag.

Don't think there's ever been a Dream track I didn't like seeing as how he's probably my favorite in the R&B game at the moment. Gotta say Tip could've stepped his game up a tad bit though.

My problem with this isn't the subject matter, but that it's boring. If I happen to be stricken with insomnia tonight, I'll put this on and fall asleep before the first hook.
I'm hardly a Dream fan anyway, and this isn't doing anything to change that. On the bright side, though, at least I don't have to worry about any more sleepless nights. |

Obviously this isn't The-Dreams best track, however the beat is catchy. I would give it a 3.5. This is a sign that "Love King" won't be a classic. I think it will be a 4 spins but still he won't top "Love Vs. Money". As for this song it's catchy after you listen to it a while. Hopefully it will be a bonus track or something.

Ehhh this song was a slight disappointment. Love Kind was good but this just didn't do it for me.
Best part for me was the T.I. verse. I cannot wait until he drops some serious heat this summer with King Uncaged dropping in August (hopefully). Either way I still know Dream will make up for this so I am not worried. 2 1/2 stars. |

poor t-pain he is getting 1-up'd by a dream. great production, I feel he is not "veering off course", instead he is appealing to women. its something i plan on hearing alot of times and for the first time i'm kul w/ it. a kind of week verse from t.i. but still, "Song is a 10 (divided by 2)"

The beat is hot and of course T.I. does good!! But the topic is plain BORING!!!! Rotation at best.... Actually how about Dream gives T.I. the track because he actually killed it on here!! Who's wit me?? |

The-Dream is my favorite artist of all time. Anyone that knows me knows how much I adore his music. He is such a talented person. I cannot wait for Love King. This is just as good as anything else he's ever put out. He is unique and always makes BANGERS.

He most defenitely hasn't fallen off. This song's production bangs, and for some reason I can see radio DJ's using this as background music as they talk, lol. Though I don't believe in spending 5 stacks on a make-up bag, its not about how crazy the lyrics are, its about how they are put together. And it is for that reason why The-Dream is still good in my book, his ability to make any topic a catchy tune is still intact. Love King will be classic, not a bad leak yet!

This is jus a chill song plain and simple. the topic may be strange but the song is catchy and thats undeniable, just as all of dream's songs are. T.I leaves much to be desired. An aritst like Luda or Kanye would of been a better choice to lighten the mood of the "silly" song and provide a more enjoyable verse

The beat reminds me of I Luv Your Girl...really Dream cannot make a bad track (scrap that Hit It On The Road song tho =P)
This isnt his best work, but its still better than most R&B tracks at the moment. Banger |

Looks like the Booth is as divided as Z and I, responses are all over the map. Now I'll admit that to some degree Dream's just going through the motions here, but like Kelly, even when going through the motions he's better than almost anyone else. Maybe it's just because I'm a hopeless Dream fan, but I still couldn't help but get sucked into this one.
And I agree with @Blaze31, T.I. kind of disappeared on this one.

Not a bad tune but the subject matter isn't something that most could probably relate to. It's shallow at the least. Is this the new version of "break up to make up." As crazy as Kelly's songs can appear it's relatable. Feeling on Yo Booty is what guys want to do. Be My #2 is another term for a side piece, mistress. It's too much of a gimmick

First off, I'm a fan of the ra-dio killah. "Love King" and the remix with Luda are both great summery, sing along while i'm pushin the whip type tracks. That being said, this track does nothing for me. There is something I'm just not feelin' maybe it's the subject matter. It's not the production or the TI and Dream combo, because "Love Again" is in heavy rotation for me right now. Either way, this is a step down from the other tracks I've heard from The-Dream.

I suggest that you all go to YouTube and look up "Sex Intelligent" and " Love Queen". Those are two songs off of his new album that he performed for some group and man I was blown away.

Does anyone remember who said, stop pluggin the brands because they aren't plugging you?? Please tell me why he name drops like a groupy at Freaknik? and while we are on it, please explain why his synth board is stuck on repeat?? Side note, T.I is the man and I respect him not droppin his shiniest on this because its not worth it and fellas, NO you cannot be forgiven by getting your girl a makeup bag (it just makes you look suspect)

As far as unique vocals go, K-Young has my vote, but the Dream regardless of what you think is a great song writer and singer. Dream could really change up his style once in a while. After hearing both his albums and some of his recent material, some of the songs are starting to sound very similar. With that out of the way, the hook was this track's strongest aspect. T.I. delivers some solid bars and the Dream carries off the verses nicely. What more could you want from a Dream track? 3.5

Personally I think this song is great, I think the subject is a bit weird but if you think about it it makes sense.
Make Up Bag doesn't have to apply to an actual like cosmetic bag its more like to make up for what he's done wrong, like make up sex. If you think about it like that the song makes a whole lot more sense |

The single feels really empty for "The-Dream" single. I don’t think I enjoy it much. As always The-Dream's vocals are smooth and controlled but song suffers from the absence of full sound for me and kind of gets draggy… eh, well. They can't all be winners, can they? T.I. verse was below-average, not enough to save this song from being... mostly boring.
