Earlier today, Dr. Dre rode into Compton on an real, live unicorn, holding aloft the Holy Grail (which was filled with water from the fabled Fountain of Youth), and spoke three words to the shocked onlookers: “Detox is real.” OK, OK, that might not have been exactly how it went down – but then again it may as well have been, considering the shockwave that went through the hip-hop nation when Kush, a now-confirmed track off the superproducer’s mythical junior set, leaked to the ‘net. Apparently the only weed-themed record on the project, this smokers’ anthem finds the West Coast mainstay cooking up a bouncing string/piano-loop backdrop for his own blunted rhymes, as well as those of an old friend; joining Dre to puff on the chronic once more is – who else? – Snoop Doggy
Dogg, who announces that he’s still “tighter than the pants on will.i.am” in his lazily-drawled 16. Akon rounds out the lineup, contributing a THC-drenched verse as well as a street-ready chorus. Does this joint give you high hopes for the endlessly-awaited album (now scheduled for release in December), or is it a puff-puff-pass? Ready… set… debate!

Finally, finally, finally! I’ve been waiting to hear something new from that Detox album.
But with that said I’m not just gonna give this track an automatic 5 stars just because it’s Dre. At first I wasn’t really feelin this I was thinking maybe 3-4 stars, but after a couple more plays, oh yeah this is a classic, 5 stars. This song would be better if Nate Dogg was on it instead of Akon, what ever happened to that guy? Is he still alive? |

This track is still growing on me, and while it doesn't have the flow of his older tracks I have to remember that music moves on, and so do some other people on this site. This is extremely catchy. As for the rest of the album? It's not going to be a classic I can tell you that much. Is it going to be good? Of course it is.

I think you guys are over-hyping this song that sounds like it should have belonged to Game aswell as him trying to flow like Game.
It's okay, the Akon collab wasn't expected but meh it's an okay start. |

How can a song with Snoop and Akon on it be bad? I just hope that Detox won't be a major disappointment, after a great single (like "The 7th Seal").

Im completely speechless......... This is insane. It is SOOOO good to hear from Dre. This is a classic Dre record. The production is absolutly FIRE!!! And the feature of Snoop Dogg is perfect, but i think Akon just doesnt fit. He probally should of put Eminem in this.......
Anyway, this song has a great energy with a nice hard flow. A deff Banger. |

Yeah this track will definitely be a staple in many dj's crates for a while......tight beat & verse from Dre and Snoop and Akon on a chorus is always a bonus........the break at the end DOES sound like it would have been Nate Dog's contribution to the track. Overall no complaints about the track...HEAT -
