Update: Click “Watch Now” above to watch Drake’s “Take Care” video.
Perfectly capturing the mood of “luxurious melancholy” (to quote my good friend Nathan S.) that made the album so compelling, and featuring the guest vocals of one of the hottest pop songstresses in the game, the title track off Drake‘s sophomore set had all the makings of a radio hit. Thus, it should come as no surprise that the Young Money megastar has selected Take Care as the latest single (number four in total) off his Best of the Booth-winning LP. Originally recorded for Tribute to Gil-Scott Heron, Jamie XX‘s delicate yet pounding, piano-led remix of the late spoken-word icon’s I’ll Take Care of You is repurposed as the backdrop for Drizzy and heavyweight guest Rihanna‘s reflections on love and loss. Both acknowledging their scars from prior heartbreaks, the collaborators strive to rise above their respective pasts and forge a relationship of mutual trust and support. This cut is set to hit the radio airwaves tomorrow, January 17, and—for the two or three people who have yet to procure it—Take Care (the album) is still available wherever fine music is sold.

This was more than obvious/smart choice for a single. This will be a Top 5 record, no question about it.

I have a feeling that this song will be on the radio for very long time. One of my favorite songs from the album.

Can't put my finger on it, but this wasn't one of my favorites on the album. Rihanna's vocals are boring on here and the beat at times is the only thing carrying the energy of the track. I knew from first listen that this would be a single (and a very successful one), so I get it. Aside from my opinion, this was a no-brainer as a radio push.

wasnt my favourite at all either...repetitive piano background and the complete death of energy in some parts of the track, just...i unno, imo, its one of the worst songs on the album. but it will absolutely run the radio for its very..calming aura, but i really don't feel it.

Not a fan of Drake, or Rihanna for that matter, but this is smooth.

Already a top 10 record, but might make top 5 again, thanks to single treatment. Listless at times, but not too bad; I liked Florence & the Machine's cover.

Not my cup of tea, but I can't argue this not being a hit.

Patty Patty 85 I respectfully agree with your consensus. I like Drake the rapper more than the singer.
