Started From The Bottom finds the A-lister donning his rapper hat, peppering laid back bars with a casual confidence, while reminding listeners about his journey through the industry from his humble beginnings. Producer Mike Zombie provides the song’s boardwork, staying far out of the reach of Drake’s spotlight and in the process maximum spins at radio. “I think it’s safe to say we’re back together again.” Indeed Drake, so what is up your sleeve next? It's a dope song. However, I was expecting more. Drake seems to have dumbed down his raps to a southern chant trap flow on this.
The beat bangs. That piano loop is awesome. Just like Headlines did, I think this will grow on me. |

So sick...the beat is awesome and love the bass. Regardless if he was an actor, he made his way into the industry with a mixtape that killed it...although this would be 5 stars if it included Wiz's remix.

Catchy production. Low IQ on the rap. Songs like this and Forever bother me because Drake had so much help making it in the music industry. You did not start from the bottom coming from an upper-middle class family, and then having an acting career. I know that rap is art, and that art is a construct, but don't try to play this off like it's your life story.

Late on this.... Drake's dad left his Mom at an early age, this lead Drake to start working at an early age and when his mom got sick they really struggled, and Yes he did get a jo as an actor but was in Canada, Degrassi was a CANADIAN show local shows like this the actors got payed less than à common Teacher he didnt start getting real money till he started rappin, make sure you know most of the facts before u judge somebody

I personally think this song is really bad. Speaking purely lyrically, it's one of my most hated songs. Drake didn't start from the bottom at all, and he even addresses that people say he didn't struggle. The only reasons he gave were that he argued with his mom and borrowed his uncle's car. He didn't start from the bottom, he started on Degrassi in a wheelchair.
