Drake - Marvin’s Room
Artist: Drake
Producer: Noah "40" Shebib
Album: Unreleased
Label: YMCMB/Universal Motown
Despite being a one-off release unattached to any project, unreleased joint Dreams Money Can Buy made an explosive impact when Drake dropped it back in late May. Thus, it should surprise absolutely no one that the first leak off the Young Money megastar’s sophomore LP has set the net on fire—literally. OK, not literally literally (If there’s smoke pouring from your PC, the problem’s on your end), but I’m just sayin’: Marvin’s Room is a Big Deal. Similar in theme to the aforementioned joint, this moody selection finds Drizzy parlaying the ennui that’s plagued him ever since he got his first taste of success into some serious soul-searching. Over Noah “40” Shebib‘s hazy, pulsing synth backdrop, complete with a disarmingly pretty keyboard outro, Drake puts his careless conduct with females under the microscope, admitting, “I don’t think I’m conscious of makin’ monsters out of the women I sponsor till it all goes bad.” Heavy subject matter, to be sure, but if there’s one man who can make guilty self-reflection sound seductive, Audrey Graham is he. Take Care is currently scheduled for release October 24, and fans can expect a lead single to drop sometime in July.

Sounds very similar to most of his work of this kind. Drake tends to keep his formula the same and that formula equals success. Keep being Drizzy Drake.

Such a high rating yes it is. But I give the rating not for the song but for the feel I'm getting. Dreams That Money Can Buy showed the same feel. The whole "Drake's making a sequel to So Far Gone" feel. And for that I'm excited. This album should be very raw and experimental and I honestly can't wait.

I'm tired of YM and the singing rapper stuff. It's gotten old really fast....

I completly agree with nco530. The reason I have to give the track such a high rating is because of the feel that it captures. Drake is great for coming out with songs that give you an almost a nostalgic feel. Can't wait for Take Care.

Hey, why's Drake playing the role of the jealous ex-boyfriend on here? I mean, this track's aight I guess but I was expecting more especially since it's nearly 6 minutes long. Sounds more like an album filler than the first official leak to his sophomore set. Oh well, people will eat it up anyway 'cause it's Drizzy. Who knows? It might grow on me. 3/5

Can I be totally honest? (Of course I can, but I thought that was a change of pace way to start off my feedback). This is a little too sleepy for me. The song is quality, but it didn't move me. Regardless, like everyone else, I am looking forward to his July single release.

Drake can keep the same formula and it's fine, but when The-Dream keeps the same formula he gets hate. But I digress...
This is beautiful though. |

Same old Drizzy...hard flow and real, but he could pick up the tempo just a little bit.

Ok song. LIke most already said this is his formula and/or style. Which i respect many ways. End of the days this isn't my favorite type of music & we all know Drake can rap. I can relate to alot of the lyrics tho. Just a bit watered down

Maybe i'm being a bit too harsh on the 2 star, but it's only ok to me. Sounds like a leftover from 808's and Heartbreak lol but It does make me wonder what the albums gonna be like

I really hope Drake can look after this style because he can produce some of the most moving and emotional music in the game. This one doesn't grab me as some of his previous tracks have, but is still gonna get a lot of love all-round.

Decent song, but I've come to expect a lot better from Drake.
Did anyone else catch the (melodic) nod to Chris Brown's "No Bullsh*t" at the beginning of the chorus? |
