Out of all the reader-acclaimed artists who could link up for a collaborative cut, few pairings could be more unexpected than that of Drake and Nipsey Hussle. The T-dot hip-hop/R&B hitmaker and the South Central street lyricist may seem to have little in common besides Booth-favorite status, but, as evidenced by this unreleased track (recorded earlier this year and leaked via the headliner’s blog), they make one hell of a team. An intense, slow-burning jam revolving around the quest for artistic success, Killa is just the kind of cut you’d expect Drake to blaze—and he does, delivering a characteristically laid-back, braggadocio-packed opener and a catchy sung hook over 1500 or Nothin‘s organ-driven boardwork—but Hussle sounds equally at home, lacing his middle-bars with earnest, ambitious motivational lyricism. Drake is so consistent. Wow. He slowed up his flow and still sounded sick. The hook was OK but I liked the hook-part of the production. Nipsey came hard on this too.

The production on this bangs hard!
Drake HAS came with more lyrical verses...but this was cool. It was NOT his best...but I like the whole vibe, and so I can rock with this. Nipsey been the dude. I got introduced to his music on this very site. I agree that1kid13. I blame it on the Young Money thing man. Now he has to sort of keep a "hood" feel and he treads thin ice every time. I'd rather here "Room For Improvement" or "Comeback Season" Drake. |

Agree with everything MH said, SPECIALLY with the whole him trying to be looked at as "Hood" because Young Money.
I like Drake, but he's not in my top ranked to be honest. Average song IMO. |

Agree with MH, though for a mixtape/unreleased joint it isnt to bad. Drake sounded good (though should probably stay away from the 'street' tracks) & Nipsey was pretty impressive on this

Drake it cool, afta hearing this i rather do a track with nipsey. I've seen drake like 15 times in downtown like 2 years, and more recently last winter. he's talented but its good to here a change, ive been lsnin to mandem for like 3 years, sine the city is mine came out. PROPS TO NIPSEY FRREAL

The beat reminds me of the Uptown track with Bun B but that track was a little bit better!!!!
I am a huge Drake fan and he delivers on this beat!! Sure he's rapping like he's "hard" but hey it works!! Big ups to Nipsey on the feature which i thought he killed and wasnt overshadowed by Drake at all!! |

WHen this started first thought was, duffle bag boy with that organ. This does sound alil like "uptown" I like it alot. Drake, rather we like him or not, is one of the most gifted wordsmiths in the game. Nipsey is bringing the west coast buzz to a high right now. This kid's mixtape is classic west coast shit. He is the truth. These two on a track together, was unlikely, but fit like a glove. Banger!

Can't say I saw this coming. No one really kills it, but it is a nice collaboration nonetheless. Nipsey got Drake on this one lyrically fa sho! but then he sounded way off-beat, flow-wise on his verse. Production's all good, but not comparable to minimalistic genius of "Uptown" - creditable nonetheless ... Rotation-Stuff.

Hmm all I'm readin' in these comments is bout Drake.. I remember first hearing 'Uptown' then 'Sooner than Later' and I fell in love with them so I got tha EP. One of the best CD's I've got in a long time.
Drake's flow is different on this, Is it because he's changing his flow to the lyrics of the song or is it who he wants to be? I dunno, but I do know that any song with a kickass organ beat has my attention :) Pretty good song in my eyes, Nipsey killed it too eazily, banger. |
