After months of anticipation and numerous features in the Booth, perennial Rap/Underground chart occupant and two-time Best of the Booth Award-winner Drake finally released his So Far Gone mixtape this past Friday, February 13th. Today, as a special treat for all you listeners, we are featuring the original version of Uptown; as on the mixtape cut, Drizzy teams up with Lil Wayne and Bun B to talk about life in their respective hometowns, from Toronto to New Orleans to Port Arthur, Texas. Unlike the version that actually made the mixtape, Weezy leaves behind his heavily-autotuned verse, only singing a hook over Boi 1-da and Northern Profit‘s Billy Joel-sampling production. Now that So Far Gone has finally been released, fans can start looking forward to Drake’s forthcoming debut album, Thank Me Later, which currently has no set release date.

This song is insane! Beat is hot and Drake's flow and wordplay on this is dope! Combine that with the hot hook and Bun B and Wayne with solid verses! Nice production! Classic!

 This beat is hot. Drake has great word play. He does not sound like fabolous but has a similar style. Bun B is good on this track.

STUPID MUDASUCKAS! The production went hard. The hook was decent as well. Drizzy's swagger was so high on this. |

This is a pretty decent track... The production is cool, but i didn't think it was great. Drake was nice on his part of it, and Bun B did his thing. I liked their verses, but at the same time the flow was a little wierd to me... Wayne was a good fit on the hook. In rotation....

For the longest time I never understood why people were all about Drake. We featured his music time after time, but I never felt as strongly about it as most of our members. Song like UPTOWN (and his whole damn new mixtape - which is superb), though, completely changed my mind.
He is a talent, no doubt about it. Nice listen all around.

I am EAGERLY awaiting Drake's album. He's got a sweet a$$, smooth flow. He's got that "Weezy-sound", but smoother, sexier. (Sorry, Wayne, we can straighten it out later).

A) he's a beast B) he's reppin Toronto and i used to live in Toronto so i'm glad we finally have a really good rapper from there C) he makes tracks with weezy (my favorite rapper) and also, Bun B does what he does this is a ridiculous track because of the really raw lyrics and the ridiculous production...R.I.P. Good song but don't see it getting much mainstream play, I've thought all Drake songs were definitly quality but as far as enough to propel him into the mainstream, I don't think so. Idk why, but I don't find it "unique" and energetic enough, its allll good, but not great.

Damn, this shit is fire. Beat and flow hooked me right from the beginning. Great lyrically, awesome collabo. And to contradict some of you, I could definitely hear this played all over the South, atleast Chattanooga and Below... idk what those whackass people north of chattanooga listen to. :D
