We’re just a few short months into 2010, but it’s already shaping up to be a very, very good year for rising rap star (and exclusive freestyle series contributor) Donnis. With the ink just beginning to dry on his brand new contract with Atlantic, the Atlanta Brave has ample reason to celebrate – and that’s exactly what he does on OD, a track originally released as part of a South by Southwest mixtape sampler. A generous helping of brass fanfare courtesy of heavyweight producer Needlz sets a triumphant mood as the newly-signed emcee revels in his recent rise from online buzzmaker to hip-hop megastar-in-the-making: “I went from seein’ sh*t that I couldn’t afford, from drivin’ a Ford to bein’ chauffeured…” Donnis enthusiastic flows and Needlz’ bombastic production stylings make for a track that’s damned hard to resist – but why would you want to? For more new tunes from the latest Booth favorite to make it to the major leagues, check out his Fashionably Late street album when it hits the ‘net sometime this spring.

Donnis really impressed me on the 10 for 10 mixtape and he keeps up the good work on this. This beat is bangin' and he always has some cool lyrics.

Big fan of Donnis. He is one of those artists whose new material will always find a place in my speakers/headphones. Is this his best record ever? No. Is he capable of much much more? Yes, see Diary of an ATL Brave. Does this remind me how much I look forward to his future works? You better believe it.
Congrats on the major label singing, my friend! |

Alright but nothing that impressed me. Donnis dropped a few nice rhymes but overall Neddlz's beat is what kept my intrest. Which by the way sounds similar to Game's Shake at certain parts. I dont know, maybe it's just me.

Solid, but didn't blow me away. I've got nothing to complain about, but I've heard better from Donnis.

"Dairy of an ATL Brave" was a pretty good mixtape. It got better with repeated listens and has its share of individual standouts, but also had just enough average/forgettable moments (just like this right here) to keep it from being a total success for me... 2.5
Overall, Donnis is a promising talent, and I'm looking forward to checking out his future releases. |

I have high hopes for Donnis, I had heard he got signed. Now is his chance, needs to bring more than this though.
