Turns out that XXL Freshman, Atlantic Records signee and drunk fan puncher Donnis was only getting warmed up when he dropped off his last, DJBooth-approved track Yup. In fact, you could even call him en fuego. Appropriately, Donnis’ new leak More Fire features a boiling beat from producer Ced Young with definite trap music roots, and for his part Donnis manages to drop both the first Clue (”Kill it with a dagger in the dining room, tell Professor Plum…”) and To Wong Foo (”watchin my boys turn bi**h to wong foo”) references in hip-hop history. Never say the man doesn’t rhyme outside the box. On the other hand, didn’t Drake already drop an almost identical “Mr. Ripley” line? Or am I thinking of something else? Someone set me straight in the comments below. More Fire can be found on the Fashionably Late EP, which is set to drop the same day as his identically named Fashionably Late mixtape on June 22. Circle your calendars Donnis-lovers, it’s gonna be a hot summer.

This atlantien got me waiting for his mixtape. Don't like the beginning but he makes hot songs. I like this one as well as 'yup'. He's got good flow in his verses and knows how to make a good song.

Yooo Donnis got some punchlines, but his voice is a lil forgettable, but I am feeling this beat...I wish the hook was different though

As I wrote in the intro, not a huge fan of the chorus, but it hardly matters. I can say that I've listened to this track at least tens times now, and every time I figure out a new reference. The man's got a more complex flow than he gets credit for. Dope.

@x20nickel - You're absolutely right, thanks for setting me straight. Drake's referring to The Talented Mr. Ripley, Donnis to Ripley's Believe It Or Not.

“Every verse a work of art, call me Donny van Gogh, Wanna cut my ear off just hearing all ya'll flow, Ohh no!”
Haha this dude is legit, and he is entertaining as hell. I must say that Donnis is emerging as the next big thing from the A, with no co-signers!

More...FIRE. Production on this was nice. Donnis had a hot flow on this. Wordplay on this is nice. Right off the bat "Donnis, I'm exactly what a don is!". Hot.

Donnis has been steadily developing since 2009, but still I haven't heard a song of his that would make me say he has all the tools to be the next big thing, in my opinion.

Both the beat and hook are really holding this back, as the wordplay and cocky boasting of Donnis is actually pretty entertaining.
