This sounds like one of those summer time smoke session joints; one of those smooth Cali groove joints. And who better to provide some summer theme music than Dom Kennedy? With new leak Grind’n, Mr. Kennedy once again proves that his slow, lethargic-sounding flow makes for that sh*t that you can vibe to, especially when he is backed by Cardio on the Beat. Sure the track is filled with plenty materialism: “Grind’n, Ni**a in here shining / Early in the morning check the Rolie with the diamonds,” and sex references: “Girl you really frontin’, if it’s not with you bet I’ll be leavin here with somethin’,” but that’s what makes it so damn cool. The video for this record dropped last week and it’s dope too - one of them chill-ass day-in-the-life-of-a-westsider videos. Grind’n is the first leak off Dom’s second installment of From The Westside With Love II that I’m pretty excited about, scheduled to drop on June 28.
