Often described as “DJ Shadow with a sense of humor,” DJ Yoda‘s is well known for his cartoonish use of samples. For his newest project, however, longtime fans must forget everything they know about the London native – here, he’s adopted the “American DJ” compilation strategy of cramming as many big names as possible into one record. Though various versions of this record have surfaced online, the Booth proudly presents the final, official version of Colorful Clothes. Over a 9-minute beat by Hustle Heart Productions, Hunt, Nu Jerzey Devil, Maino, Lupe Fiasco, Joe Young, Birdman, Wes Fif, Trae and Lil Wayne each rhyme about their amazing technicolor (or black and white) apparel. A trunk banger it already is, but only time will tell if Colorful Clothes can reach the top of the charts like numerous other DJ comp singles.

This is a good song, albeit a little too long. The beat is good, although it gets a little repetitive after 8 minutes. I wish he would have cut out Trae, Hunt, and Wes Fif to shorten the song.

I only gave it a listen becuase of Lupe, and he killed it. The song was otherwise repetitive and lengthy. Good beat tho.

Too many artists makes the song hard to listen all the way through more than once, no matter who is on the track. |

Some of you have eluded to this fact, I am going to sum it all up (as I hope more members continue to do after my comments): quantity does not equal quality. While this production is certainly worthy of nine minutes worth of lyrical barrages, the track suffers ups and downs by the over-the-top amount of guest features.
Cut it to four minutes and keep Maino, Weezy, Lupe, Trae and Hunt.

WTF?! The Lupe Fiasco verse is from "Walk in my shoes" by Emily King featured on the site. “me and her colours create art together” by Lil Wayne, I’m pretty sure it’s from another song also.
What was the point of this song again? I despise blends... Too long and recycled! |

Way too many features hah lol and an OK hook. I feel like in order for a song to have a chance to be repeatably bangable it can have like 4-5 features max. Any more than that it becomes a long drawn out song you listen to sometimes. With that said, I pick Hunt, Maino, Birdman, and Weezy. That way you get 4 unique sounding rappers with good verses.

Hunt was one of the better ones I heard.
Nu Jerzey sounded terrible. Maino sounds pretty dope and unique. Lupe sounded the best in this track. Joe Young sounded annoying. Birdman sounded awful and annoying. Wes Fif didn't live up to my standards. Trae sounded dope and intimidating as usual, but I expected a rapider-velocity rap from him. Lil Wayne kills most of his verses, as usual, despite their randomness sometimes. |
