The liner notes on DJ Pharris’s new single, The Money, reads like a guest list at a Source Awards after party. It’s a superstar free-for-all, featuring R. Kelly, Fat Joe, Fabolous, and Busta Rhymes. Pharris, a veteran in the Chicago hip hop scene, takes a minimalist approach with the production (thanks to producer Boogz), allowing each artist to do their own thing over some quite claps and a far-eastern flute melody. As the title indicates, the song focuses on the ever-original topic of money (cough, cough). But hey, with an all-star lineup like this one, who really cares what they’re talking about? At the end of the day, the track has “strip club anthem” written all over it. The Money will appear on Pharris’s forthcoming album, Hood Music.

This beat is pretty stale to me. This song just doesn't have the energy it should have with all these big names on the track and I think this is due to the production. It throws it all off from the beginning. Fat Joe isn't saying anything good on his corny verse; fabo sounds like a has-been on here (and so does R. Kelly by the way); and Busta has the best part on here; but it isn't good enough to save this track...
Can I hear this acapella? This beat is horrible. I'm surprised all these big names actually rapped on this issh! I won't even listen to this. Why didn't they just add a toilet flush every three seconds to freshen up the beat? terrible!
Not a bad track. Beat has that Hawaiian theme too it, which i'm not mad at. Line up of artist is off chain, Busta tore the final minutes of the song up, and Kells verse sorta seemed to be different every time. Don't know why, but the hook wasn't really doing it for me. If Pharris can bring on some more tracks like Head Noddin' again, It'll do things for him.
I like the mellow beat that he uses to allow the rappers to showcase their lyrics. R. Kelly killed the hook as usual. Fat joe was good, but he sounds better over more powerful beats. FAbolous, never been my favorite, busta sounded good. 3.5
Aaaaaarrrgh another song about money...I wonder, do they eat money? do they make sex with money? Do they live only for money? Boooring! Anyway in my opinion this was meant to be a club banger, but they haven't managed to do it. The beat isn't horrible but it's kinda weak, it lacks energy. The guests are too many and quite useless! They don't sound bad but if the beat is weak there's nothing to do (ya'll know that to me the beat is fundamental). To me it's ok
Ugh...fat joe needs to stop or get trained...i haven't heard anything good out of his mouth for a minute. I don't even think busta was that good, just better than the rest.
I agree with the early assessments that a roster of these fine artists should have produced a hotter song. However, if you take out the beat from this musical equation and keep the guest emcees in tact (w/ Kellz), you have a blazing hot single. Oh and Charlie, cough cough, this topical is MAD original. ha.
The flute melody doesnt even flow. Their voices dont even match at all. I would expect a little more because of all the names on the track but I guess not. This is garbage
How do da people not like this song. this aint a classic buts its a banga. If you dont like it at first if you listen to it again youd probabyly like it. this beat is hot. R.Kelly is really good on the hook
I agree with Omaryon but it took me only listening to the song as it went on. It'll grow on ya. Sometimes a simple beat is needed. All three, Fab, Busta, and Coka all flow with the beat. Kells sets it off.
Listen to this song on xxlmag.com the beat is suped up on there.... this is like a stripped down version without any base or anything.. the one on the other site is fire and it makes the song sound SOOO much better!!
wow for the crazy guest list of names on this track this comes up way short. beat is trash sounds like an old-school timbo wannabe. i couldnt get past the first minute...
PATTYPATTY85 is right on the money! lol These cats need to quit talkin bout money inless they plan on sharing. Don't they know taht this country is goin into ressession? Help MOFOS stop flauntin ya riches and worshipin ya dough. That topic is old. Selfishness in hip hop is tired. Grow up MCs!
this is a stripped down version. probably wasn't even mixed yet. DJ booth release the official version. regardless, this is still a club track that ya'll will be dancing to.
