DJ Paul - U Don't Want It ft. Lord Infamous
Artist: DJ Paul
Producer: DJ Paul
Album: Scale-A-Ton (Skeleton)
Label: Hypnotize Minds
Though Three 6 Mafia‘s biggest mainstream hits have come in the last five years (see Stay Fly, Poppin’ My Collar, Lolli Lolli (Pop That Body)), many of their longtime fans still prefer their ‘90s “horrorcore” work. Ready to give ‘em what they want, DJ Paul‘s forthcoming solo album, Scale-A-Ton (Skeleton), will be chock full of the dark, underground sounds with which he and his group originally hit the scene. To demonstrate, we present U Don’t Want It. Paul samples German composer Carl Orff’s O Fortuna (also heard on Nas’ Hate Me Now and Cam’ron‘s Get ‘Em Girls) on the beat and brings out his brother (and former Triple 6 member), Lord Infamous, out of hiding for the middle verse. As if that isn’t spooky enough, we get to hear Vincent Price’s maniacal laughter from Michael Jackson‘s Thriller toward the end—believe me, you can’t get more spine-chilling than that! For more of that old-fashioned ghostriding (literally) music, keep a lookout for Scale-A-Ton (Skeleton), which hits record stores and online retailers May 5.

DJ Paul goin solo. I love it. This track is definitely meant to be played on some club speakers or a car stereo. I love his productions and this one doesn't disappoint. I like DJ Paul. Lyrically it is nothing special, but that's not necesarily what its meant for. Lord Infamous was decent. A true banger right here.

This is kinda interesting, but not great. The production is Ok, and I like the creepy feel, but I didn't like the droning tone in the background for most of it. DJ Paul does his usual, which are subpar lyrics done in unoriginal cadence. It works when there is a catchy hook or a nice hard headnoddin beat (see Sippin,) of which this track had neither. The hook was OK, but too repetitive. I liked the Lord Infamous verse best because it gave the track some contrast, but nothin special overall.

You know, I recognize artistic value even if it's not my taste... gothic/symphonic is not one of them but they pulled it off! This is creepy!

Man, Three Six has been rather...umm..wack lately. This is in that category. Paul could not carry the track without his sidekick, and it got really boring.

The production was nice here, although as much as I hate to admit it DJ Paul and Lord Infamous got more and more annoying as the song went on. That reason alone prevents this track from entering my rotation. 2.5/5

I think the production goes hard but I'm not feelin them, above all in the hook. They bore me, I'm not hearing flows that would catch me, they seem to rap/sing at random. 3 stars for the music!

This knocks REAL HARD but its just not my cup of tea - never has been either. I can't hate, though, because this very style helped Paul and Juicy become underground kings in Memphis.

This track has a lot going for it. Can't say I enjoy the fact that it has the N-word about 50 times though. Just not my type of song.

Oh, and shoutout to Lord Infamous for bringing back that flame! Can't wait to hear his upcoming album (plus props for name-dropping Drano-why? Because it's made over in my hometown of Racine, Wisconsin)
