When a single old-school veteran DJ teams up with an underground veteran emcee for a collaborative album, epic results are expected. On September 2, Queens native (and Cypress Hill co-founder) DJ Muggs will team up with Fresno, California native Planet Asia to teach the hip-hop world some Pain Language. On the project’s first single, Asia finds himself fed up with everyone who talks down to him. The end result: a 9mm goes “bang!” Thanks to Muggs’s murky jazz beat, 9mm can best be described as the kind of work you might hear from ?uestlove and Black Thought of The Roots, but darker. Hey, with gas prices exceeding $4.40 in California, we all get a little angry these days…
Oooo, awesome production here. I liked the vibe of this right when it came in. I can throw this is rotation. This is definitely that hip hop. Please don't rate this anyone who doesn't like real hip hop, cuz I really don't feel like reading your ignorant comments tonight.
Planet Asia has been puttin it down for Cali for a long time. I'm afraid he will continue to unnoticed by the world if he continue to rhyme over subpar beats. This did nothing for me production wise.
I remember hearing Planet Asia a long time ago. The sound on this doesn't have a crisp sound, theres too much "noise" for my liking and the flow isn't addicting at all. Lyrics are good tho.
Well michaelhannah I will rate this song because I can and everybody has a opinion so I can post one if I want. As for this song it does not do much for me. This is nowhere near as good as the David Banner song named 9MM. Now that song is hot @*#$!.
@Matthew101 LOL yeah fo sure, u must be deaf, blind and ignorant at the same time. Go listen to Banner's song again and then compare. C'mon boy. Planet Asia shits on him as far as his lyrics, just the flow is a bit dated. Muggs solid as usual
Umm Big-A I dont care what you say to me. If you like this song more then good for you. But the beat is WAY Better on David Banners song. I think your deaf. And I would not be the only person who likes David Banners song more then this.
Again I just checked the ratings for David Banners song 9MM on this site and the average is a little over 4 on that song so there is people who like it.
Again I am also getting sick of getting personally attacked on this site. I know I did it a couple of times but I stopped and apologized for doing it because its not cool. I mean me getting personally attacked here offends me and hurts my feelings honestly. Again it makes me not want to come on this site with how rude people are. I am sorry I did not like this and maybe I should of toned down my comments a little there but its not cool to be personally attacked by Big-A here or other people who have come at me.
i've always been a HUGE fan of cypress hill, since their first official release, and dj muggs have always been one of my favourite producers. but after skulls & bones i felt like he had lost his true skills and style, and stoned raiders was a clear proof of that. and this... i don't know. maybe muggs had the bad luck to hook up with planet asia (never liked his rhyme scheme), but i feel like he could have done better..
getting personally attacked by me would sound different, I am not into that kindergarden bullshit. but if you want, go and cry more. you probably to young to read between the lines...it's just plain stupid to compare a song of Planet Asia with a David Banner song just cause they share a same song title. period! It's up to you which songs you like, prefer and dislike, music will always be about personal tastes. But sorry, as far as rhymes (and that's what rap is actually about) Planet Asia shits on Banner. If you don't recognize that, you must be really deaf.
matthew101, you wrote about a big problem in this site and not only. In real life and in virtual one there are always rude people, we have to accept it! I have been angry many times because I was personally attacked for my tastes and comments...but I learnt to give sharp replies, without being rude (I don't like to be at the same level of who insults). Big-A maybe Matthew has understood you point of view, this doesn't mean u weren't rude in the first post! Recognise it! A thing that u consider absolute may not be so for another person...and this doesn't mean he's ignorant, c'mon!
Well, about this song I can say I like the beat and the music (I'm really feeling those electrical guitars in the background and the battery, they are very "rockish"), I liked the beginning but the overall song is kinda boring to me. Not my type at all, maybe I don't like how he flows! it's ok!
@ michaelhannah: I hate it when you write certain things: if a song is real hip hop, doesn't mean it's good for everyone. It happens that the song is well produced, it represents the real hip hop music but not everyone feels the beat, or the rapper...doesn't mean we are all ignorant! It means you are intolerant! If we can't write what we think, then there's no reason for this site to exist. Do we have to write what YOU think?!
Big A is just upset with your opinion Matthew because your comparing two different genres practically...Planet Asia is underground hip hop to the fullest. He's been in the game for a long time and he's a great lyricist. If it's not your type of music, go ahead...say you think its slow, say u don't like his flow...most people don't (hence, underground). But when you compare it to David Banner, an industry heavyweight with features like Akon, Wayne and Snoop Dogg, you make hip hop fans everywhere cringe.
I like the lyrics, the flow...hate the beat, hooks sucks too
First of all, this argument amongst the same people is getting super old. This is why there are vanilla lovers and chocolate lovers; opinions are like a**holes: everyone has one. With that said, michaelhannah is correct in saying "please don't offer ignorant comments." To me, the definition of an ignorance is knowingly or unknowingly offering an opinion with no foundation on the subject. If you don't consider a certain type of hip-hop your favorite, make mention of that when rating. It will go a long way with readers who do consider themselves knowledgable or 'experts.' PS. You hit it on the head SPAZ! Oh... and this sh*t is straight up HIP HOP.
And what's funny about Patty and Matthew on this post is this....I didn't name them or anyone personally at all. LOL. Matthew took it upon himself just to assume I was talking about him, as well as Patty assuming I was calling her ignorant, when it was a general statement. I will continue to make general statements in my critiques not to "personally" offend people. But it's not my problem is you identify yourself as the type of person I generalized. LOL...it's like a LOSE/LOSE. Even when I don't personally attack people, they assume and get offended anyway....hahahaha....that's crazy
michaelhannah I didn't take your statement as a personal attack. I just didn't like what you wrote, so I expressed it! That's all! If you meant that u don't accept people saying "this is @*#$!" without explaining why or without making precise that that kind of hip hop isn't their favourite (like Dj Z wrote), in this case I agree with u & apologise! Believe me, the way in which you wrote that post didn't express what you prob wanted to...ignorant isn't an offense, it means that one doesn't know/ignores (like Z, again, wrote). But in your comment it sounded like a totally negative thing, like to say "well I don't want to read your (everybody) ignorant comments"! If you express your ideas in another way, nobody will need to reply Hope you understand what I mean, I'm not jumping on you, just explaining, like I always do
....ummmm my bad, jus sum i agree w/: like da personal attackz (but i did settle those- but i feel him) and then 4 DIS sogn, and then how i like david banner song betta than DIS one.
I like dark melodic beats. There is a lot going on with this beat and a lot of different sounds and noises. So I am really feelin this. This would be a song that I would download to the mp3 player and hit the weights to.
I like this a lot. I'm a huge Planet Asia fan. And Muggs last collaboritive effort was on point. I like this beat because its different. Planet asia kills this beat. Tite song
I am sorry for my comments that I posted up. I should have not rate this song because Im not real hip hop guy like michaelhannah said and do agree that my comments on this song were a little rude. Michaelhannah did not offend me at all with his comments and I think I disrespected him a little and I am sorry to him but Big-A I respect your oppinions but dont call me names. Im not crying its just rude. Thats why I probally wont rate to many song on this site again if I am going to get personnaly attacked on every other comment I post.
