While Terrence & Rocsi are the two current faces of BET’s successful 106 & Park countdown show, another man works behind the scenes, creating the ambiance.  That man is New York City’s very own DJ L, who can be found in the back spinning records on the 1’s and 2’s.  Emerging from the shadows of the show, he will join numerous other DJs by putting together a compilation album.  On Take It To The Top, L puts together a story of the rappers’ version of the American Dream.  As reggae artist Junior Reid (One Blood) sets the tone, Sheek Louch and Cassidy pledge to use their lyrical gifts strictly to rise up to the next level, and Joell Ortiz discusses the lifelong love for music that motivates him.  DJ L’s debut album, A Beautiful Mind, currently has no set release date.

Good line up. Nice piano so far. NEW YORK state of mind sample. Ok. Not so sure it fits here but ok. Junior Reed has been featured of people's tracks 4 years. When will we hear a major album from him? Cassidy is a beast. Kills everything these days. I'm Ready for his next project. Is that DJ L rappin on the third verse? Voice doesn't match the pic. Ortiz is the truth. I'd play this.

This lineup is sick. All three emcees are HIGHLY underrated. The production from L is also very enjoyable. Keep up the great feedback everyone!

It's not a bad song but it doesn't give so much pleasure to my ears...it's a bit boring! The production is very good, though...I'm practically only listening to the music even tough I wouldn't want to
Ps: the bridge is cool

I don't think this is all that great. This most memorable part of this song is the NY State of Mind sample.

Nad101 because the music is more important to me that the lyrics...if the lyrics are good but the song is boring I don't like it, but if the lyrics are average and the music is good I like the song! That's what I think...both things are important, but music is fundamental to me
