As you’d expect from a fella who attracts female stares like a magnet does iron filings, Deonte‘s got some lofty standards when it comes to potential romantic interests: if you want to grab his attention, you’ve got to be One of a Kind. An aura of shyness and mystery can’t hurt either, as evidenced by the Georgia native’s Booth debut, which finds him instantly drawn to a girl he sees sitting at a distance from the crowd, all on her lonesome. Over the dreamy synths and handclap-driven percussion of beatsmith Dre Norris, Deonte does his damnedest to convince the hesitant shawty to, “...take a chance with your boy and see.” While it isn’t revealed whether or not Deonte succeeds in winning over the girl in question, it’s hard to imagine her being able to resist his smooth vocal runs and airy falsetto. If you find yourself seduced by the artist’s masterful game-spitting, you can find plenty more where this came from on Deonte’s self-titled EP, released this past January and available now online.

not bad so far...the harmonies are a little sloppy though...there is no energy in this track at all...its so bland...i feel myself drifting to sleep...yawn...its straight..

Deonte sent us two songs (One of a Kind was one of the two) and both impressed me. I am honestly surprised I had never heard of his work before last week. The melody is radio-ready, the vocals were pretty good, and the overall vibe of the record was positive. I'd listen again... which is why this is in my rotation.

He has a real smooth voice with a little hint of SLIM from 112!!
I have to say there is alot of energy....Not club type hype energy but r&b he really knocked the vocals out the park type energy!! If that makes any sense!! |

Not perfect execution - it's hard to do the sexy, breathy vocals thing without getting a little sloppy, but overall definitely a real nice, smoothed out vibe. He's definitely got me intrigued - I'll take more. I'd like to see what else he's got. Maybe something a little more up-tempo?

Is it possible to be too smooth..I like this track but it needs just a decible more of heat. I don't know if it turnin down the treble and pumpin the bass would help or just cleanin the edges of his vocals but I smell potential banger in the future.
