Hearing the “nice guys finish last” speech my whole life, it’s easy for me to feel unappreciated and used to the fact that a**holes get all the girls. Those same girls will continue to insist that’s not who they’re looking for, but we all know the truth. Well, allow the up-and-coming Denzil Porter to properly explain the reason in his new hit, Kanye West. Named after Mr. West for obvious reasons, (I’ma let you finish, but Kanye is the biggest a**hole OF ALL TIME) Denzil kicks things off with producer Mark Xlnce crafting a dope piano riff and heavy snare instrumental that draws attention before the rapping even starts. After a sung chorus that utilizes a phrase the majority of us fellas has heard, Denzil flows over the beat with comical punchlines that also portray some realistic scenarios. Even though the song may have a funny feel to it, what’s not funny is the way Denzil can spit, as he spits with a confident demeanor and an ability to really highlight lines that many rappers struggle to do. This song is extremely nice. The hook was fitting, thank god it wasn't over done. Beat is amazing. Really classic golden-age of hip hop feel on the drums.
Lyrically, Denzil Porter is awesome. I've had previous experiences with his records, like intuition..and hes pretty damn good.Here is no exception. |
