Dead Prez - Stimulus Plan
Artist: Dead Prez
Producer: Green Lantern
Album: Pulse Of The People (Turn Off The Radio Vol. 3)
Label: Krian Music Group
Though Dead Prez haven’t released a new studio album since ‘04’s Revolutionary But Gangsta (and have yet to appear on our front page as a duo), this new cut should reassure fans that Stic.Man and M-1 still have their fingers planted firmly on the Pulse of the People, and, with the blend of forward-looking idealism and populist furor that’s characterized ‘09 thus far, the time couldn’t be more ripe for their return to the spotlight. Opening with a few timely news clips, Stimulus Plan raises plenty of provocative questions—is the love of money the root of all evil, or the lack of it? Does slavery live on in the continued exploitation of the working class? Complete with an innovative Green Lantern instrumental, which samples both Pink Floyd and old-school rap group Divine Sounds, this record should have listeners (especially those with leftist tendencies) waiting with bated breath for the forthcoming Pulse Of The People (Turn Off The Radio Vol. 3) .

Although they are both VERY oppinionated and often times unecessarily harsh, I LOVE Dead Prez! and I'm glad to see them back wit a new record on the way, but I hope it's more like "Lets Get Free" than "RBG"
This track is hot (i love the Pink Floyd sample) and the production is the perfect backdrop for these dudes to spit da truth... which is exactly what they do. whether you like it or not dudes speak about some real social issues. "When did fight the power become Wait til you see my d!-#?" These are some dudes like PE and NWA who bring that real talk. |

@joshL What you may not realize is this particular track, and this particular group, are not doin this to make an "Obama" song. All of their tracks have been super political waaay b4 Obama was even considered for the presidency. Just listen to both of their albums so far...

I am probably not the only person on here liking this joint. I am kind of sick of mainstream "hip hop" the soljia boys, money cars and biatches themes. Everything about this song right here is different than 2009 hip hop. I guess what I am saying is this joint is refreshing as a mf.

lantern = prez = straight fire. Personally I want rap world with Prez and Soulja Boy in it. I like the depth of Prez nusic and the silliness of SB. Balance isn't a bad thing at all.

The production is fresh and solid and his flow is excellent. Anyway this bored me. It's original and creative but I wouldn't listen to it again

His flow is cool. It sort of reminds me of Young Buck mixed with Method Man. The chorus is probably my fav part. Its unique and different (sounds like a church choir) Lyrically i think he does a great job with conveying his message. I def agree with his message. I'm all about speaking to the people through your lyrics. Overall a really good song. I'll throw it on the pod.

Aaahhh it's been a while since we've heard some Dead Prez politrickin'. Production is tight and the lyrics are fine like wine, but I don't think this is quite dead prez at their best...it's good to see them making music together though...call me old school but I'm still diggin' Let's Get Free today - this had that raw appeal to it like their LGF stuff, but not quite the same status. Can't decide, but probs a 3 to 3.5.
To all those who slept on RBG, try to get your hands on the album before it was all recut and adjusted by the label. When you hear that, you'll see that it could have been some LGF almost-classic-type material... |

Yeah, I'm about a month off on this, but I still thought I'd give it a listen. Man, am I glad I did!!! I agree with Z that this production is fire all around!! The lyrics are...I don't know...amazing isn't nearly the word. This is BY FAR one of the best songs lyrically that I have EVER heard. Instant Classic status. 99/5 stars. Wish I could give it that rating...damn. Amazing song!!!
