dead prez may not be fans of the free market, but they certainly know what’s marketable; seeing the enormous demand for motivational music, M-1 and stic.man have teamed up with Jersey’s Avery Storm to supply it.  Refuse to Lose is a little different from your usual soundtrack-to-the-grind record, though—for one thing, it’s refreshingly down-to-earth.  In keeping with their populist leanings, the brothers depart from the motivational-jam formula (brushing off haters, stacking cash…) to tackle topics like parenthood and the importance of keeping stress under control. As the brothers mix revolutionary rhetoric with practical wisdom, DJ Green Lantern delivers a synth-driven instrumental that hits just as hard as his Booth-acclaimed boardwork on Stimulus Plan and Gangster, Gangsta.  Topped off by Storm’s catchy hook and bridge vocals, as well as a sample from the legendary Chuck D (taken from PE’s Welcome to the Terrordome), this choice cut is sure to get listeners buzzing in anticipation of Pulse of the People‘s release this Tuesday (the 23rd).  If you’re a fan, keep it locked to our frontpage in the months ahead—stic and M-1 are slated to contribute to our exclusive freestyle series.

With all due respect to Willy Northpole and Ginuwine, if you have to go out and pick up on album on Tuesday the 23rd, get the new dead prez. Dope lyrical content, dope production, dope guest features, and solid sample choices. Everything you want (and need) from your hip hop music and more.

Not liking the rhymes, chorus is weak. I was hoping it would come out stronger from the beginning but never did.

Gritty production, grimy flows, but a great social awareness and some nice lyricism. Dead Prez uses a similar formula that PE and NWA did back in the day (which would explain the Chuck D guest verse.) Whether you agree wit some of the radical ideas they speak about or not, you gotta admit that this is hip-hop at its finest.

Not so surprised with low ratings.
Can't say that I saw this collaboration coming ... What if this song was played on the radio in heavy rotation ... the world would be a different place.

Radio and TV has pushed and shoved what they think should be listened to and that is why i think most teens now a days don't like music like this since it is so different from the "stanky leg" type of music that the media decides to play!!
I don't give very many "classic" rating's but THIS RIGHT HERE deserves it!!
This song is HOT and if you dont like it stop listening to the radio and tv and really LISTEN to what these true hip-hop tracks have to offer!!

Interesting combination on here. Another Green lantern banger. Dude is as consistent as any producer in the game right now. Dead Prez is ill too without question, Chuck D is a legend, and avery did cool on the hook.
