As I wrote on the Mississippi heavyweight emcee’s last DJBooth feature Something Is Wrong, you never know what you’re going to get from a David Banner track. He could be rhyming about big rims and bigger booties, the need to stand up to police brutality, or something just plain Strange. The second track we’ve heard off Banner and production legend 9th Wonder’s collabo album Death of a Popstar, their latest offering Strange ironically isn’t really all that strange.  On the production tip Wonder delivers yet another dope soul soaked beat underwritten with just a hit of menace (see The Problem Is, Look Easy, etc. etc. etc.), and on the microphone side of the equation Banner is once again on his gangster revolutionary tip, touching on everything from Obama’s presidency to the struggle of single parents - although he does make sure to remind us he still “loves titties” – sentiments echoed by guest artist and newcomer Big Remo. Popstars should start making funeral plans now; Banner and 9th swear the album is coming “soon.”

There is nothing strange about this record - as Nathan pointed out - but other than the midleading title its pretty good. I was excited when I heard about Banner and 9th coming together for a full project and the only thing that has reigned in that moment is the amount of time we've been waiting for it. Lets hope this is the next step toward a release...

I'm very surprised Banner is on this track considering the material he's put out in the past.

crooked letter i...hellz yea its this david banner?! this is not a typical david banner song...and there is know way this should have been his first single...i feel he sent this to the booth because it sounds "hip-hoppy", for example sample...and he actually talking about problems in the world...but this is not bad and is not great but he talking about some real ish..david banner is a real dude,. you can tell from this right here i actually felt like i meet him today...the beat is a lil better than ok, he got better with the fills...this is a solid track

It seems like this album will be Banner at his most political, and so far I'm enjoying it. The haters will always find something, but there's really nothing to complain about here. Just quality music.

By the way, the 9th Wonder onslaught continues. I think we've heard 197 new 9th beats in the last three weeks...and all of them were dope.

I haven’t heard from David Banner in a minute and it’s good to hear him sounding so fresh. This album could be something big.

I dig the production here and the rhymes. Delivery is dope. Banner's got a dope voice. The mix balance could be better. I'll bump it. Not a classic But I dig it... good music.

Death of a Pop Star? I like the sound of that, especially when it’s of a southern rapper. I like the new David Banner, and I love every 9th Wonder track. Can’t wait for the album!

CLASSIC

Too much social commentary not enough musical substance.

This is the Banner I dig. I know he has to make the club records to move units, but he can make substance tracks. Remo was dope on this as well.
