David Banner - Something Is Wrong (Remix)
Artist: David Banner
Featuring: Rhymefest , Naledge , Twista
Producer: 9th Wonder
Album: Unreleased
Label: b.i.G. f.a.c.e.
Two weeks ago the sometimes schizophrenic David Banner decided to delve back into his socially conscious side with his stop-the-violence anthem Something Is Wrong. Well obviously Banner isn’t the only rapper that feels the need to speak up because he’s been joined by three of the Chi’s finest rappers on the remix: Naledge, Rhymefest and the lightning tongued Twista. For his part Rhymefest is his typically dope self, pointing out the poverty that exists at the root of violence (“Imagine if the Cosby kids had to rob to live”) while Naledge drops a gripping narrative and Twista uses his quick flow to inspire change. It’s good to see more rappers take responsibility for their communities beside Banner. Now it’s our turn. If you’re in the Chicago area come support the Anti-Violence Rally featuring David Banner, Rhymefest, Naledge, 9th Wonder and Twista and many more local celebrities, which has been delayed from Tuesday, Oct. 20 to a yet-unspecified date in mid-November due to overwhelming response. Something Is Wrong will be included on Banner’s collaborative project with 9th Wonder titled Death of a Popstar, which currently has no release date.

Thought provoking, provocative, and exactly what we need more of in hip-hop. Glad to hear my Chicago brethren joined Banner on his rightful crusade.
Lisa Ivey smashes the hook, FYI. |

Wow! Where is the opening dialogue from? Chicago tackles a big issue on this one. Interesting line from Rhymefest, "We can't expect Kanye and Com to do it" Strong, conscious lyrics from everybody.

David Banner's verse was on point. I want to hear more of this type of lyrical content from him. "They call it the trap cuz most hoods is just THAT".
Rhymefest is always on point with the knowledge lyrics. I wonder what the Kanye and Common line was about. I mean, I understand it on the surface, but was that a short at Ye and Com's separation from the socially conscious topics in their last few projects? Naledge was cool and Twista brought his usual inspirational rap music like he has done in the past on "Hope". I'd frankly like to hear more of that style from Twista as well. Overall, the track was real, and it was needed. From a technical standpoint, I wish the mix was better on it. They take time to mix a track about cars and women...so why not this track that is really talking about something significant? I also hope rappers find the time to talk about these topics other than just when a tragedy occurs. |

Giving it a 5 cause there isn't thing out there speaking on what's happening. Everyone hit the needle on the head. On another note, these rappers can't ever do too much. When they release this type of music, some one wants them to release everytime not just went something happens. Guess you can't satisfy everyone

We say we want rappers to do more than talk about swag and jewels, and then when we do we slam them for it. Come on hip-hop heads, be the change you want to see in the game.

David Banner has always been well DAvid Banner. His music has always been catchy and has had a point it isnt just to put out he tells a story with his albums. This reminds me off a classic 90's style rap. Lik back in the B.I.g days. Love it though it her to state something not to just take up space and I respect Banner for that.

The best song I've heard from David Banner. Props to him for speaking on this issue. Fest and Naledge held it down, and Twista came in and shut it down, his flow was crazy on this track.

Awesome. Can never go wrong with 9th Wonder on the production tip. David Banner, Rhymefest, Naledge, and Twista all bring it. Great message. THIS should be getting radio play instead of that other crap. Loving this one here.

I give this a 5 because this extremely true and I agree that rappers do promote staying hood but they do live in the hood. Its one thing to tell your story about the trials you went though when you were living in the hood but to make seem like kids should go through the same thing is a crying shame. I commend David Banner on this song it takes a real man to stand up and acknowledge that the rap game and black communities have a real problem on our hands not only that but to admit that we need some serious help.
