You never know what you’re going to get with David Banner. One minute he’s a one-man Black Panther party, the next he’s telling Chris Brown to Get Like Me. On his latest track Something Is Wrong Banner is back to using his rhymes to build a social movement, urging listeners to stop the violence that’s brutally killing our young people (R.I.P. Derrion Albert). Banner spits his world-changing flows over trademark soul production from 9th Wonder and gripping vocals from Lisa Ivey, laying clear the roots of the violence that’s gripping inner-city America: “We started gang banging to protect ourself, now it’s power and respect to kill for wealth.” We all know something’s wrong, but no one will say it, except David Banner. Something Is Wrong will be included on Banner’s collaborative project with 9th Wonder titled Death of a Popstar, which currently has no release date.

I know it's got a good message but I wan't feeling this too much. The production and rapping was OK but I actually wasn't feeling the hook that much.

David has always stressed the importance of incorporating political issues into music, but his work for the most part never truly backed-up his talk. Now, for the first time, its 100% the case. And good for him. We need more artists willing to do this.

...shock of the night! Love the production, but the real shock is how hard David came! Hope the "Get Like Me" and "Shawty Say" David is gone!

9th production is always on point but for David it needs to be a bit harder but I would still bang this for the message if anything else

I'm really feeling the concept of this, how people try to ignore issues going on in the world. I agree with Z, how David is never afraid of speaking his mind unlike most rappers or singers out.

Ironcially, I would of prefered anther rapper instead of him. Maybe, Nas or Lupe Fiasco would of really had me in love with the song.

imma agree with HoamBoy mr Banner has way too much of the sexual connotations associated with him to pull this song off!!! maby Nas, Jeezy, or - wait for it - rich boy would be a good fit for th theme of this song!!! because when i listend to the song i was "wow this is a real, true, and important topic"

I'm with @HoamBoy on this one. His voice and flow doesn't add the same flavor that someone like Common or Nas would add but it's still a good song nonetheless. Rotation fa sho!

On "The Greatest Story Ever Told" Banner may have sold out too much. But this is the type of tracks why I still haven't give up on him totally. He better back this one up with a string of soulful joints and deliver us another "Certified" where he successfully managed to walk the fine line between keeping it real and selling units.

Banner seems like an internally torn artist. Part of him wants to do socially relevant music like this, the other part just wants to have a good time. Luckily he's talented enough to be able to pull off both, though maybe not quite as well as Common. Definitely can't wait to check out the new Banner/9th project.

It's alright. The artist with the internal struggles has been done to death. (DMX, Scarface, etc). But still the political standpoint on this song is valid.

The songs pretty good. Some valid points that need to be said in today's society, despite which rapper you're hearing it from.

I don't really like Banner over 9th Wonder beats. It don't fit. I expect Banner to rhyme over more energetic beats than this.

Pretty good song, the message is great, more people should hear it. David went hard, and hook was decent.
